Aol was fined 1.25 million because it was difficult to cancel their service.

My aunt has had free AOL for over a year now because whenever she tries to cancel her service(started through a free CD), they give her a free 2-3 months.

If only Blizzard did that...

Yeh I think Blizzard are going to be terrified knowing how long cases take to decide and all

I absolutely hate saying this but it's really a smart decision to bring down the account pages whenever humanly possible. Obviously you can always cancel the charges but most people are way too lazy for this and once they calm down the next day they go back to playing mindlessly.

Canceling my EQ2 subscription, because I forgot my secret question's answer, forced me to have to call them for them to email me the answer.

Not a toll free call either.

1.25M is a wrist slap. I'm sure AOL made more than that by making it harder to cancel.

It does in the fact that it took me over a week to cancel because trying hourly for a week the web sight was always either down or too slow to respond, and if you call them up they give you the same runaround about why you shouldn't quit that AOL does.

*IF* the websight works, then yes it is very easy (which it finally did, a week later).

My first cancel was a fairly long survey, are you sure you want to, why, what if we change this, blah blah blah. Second time around, which was like 2 weeks ago was much shorter, just why are you leaving.

im still paying for some eq account which login i forgot. i emailed soe about it and they asked for the station name and all cd keys to cancel the subscription.
guess ill have to contact my bank to stop them billing me.

Took less then a minute to cancel my account and there wasn't some lame orc crying in my face over it acting like I gave him the clap and them stood him up on prom night.

call your credit card company and tell them you lost the card. much easier then calling aol/eq/wow/whatever.
