+4 Internets | BWL Dead within 36 hours of release! Well, sorta anyways. Good friend of mine, in Fury on Medivh, reported on the 2nd night of release they killed every monster in the zone, legitimately, and had Victor Nefarion or whoever to 30% when he was despawned, not sure due to bug or GM or whatever. A GM originally accused them of cheating to get past the 2nd door, I didn't get all the details, but apparently they were able to prove that they legitimately killed the fixed version of the 2nd boss, and caused the door to open legitimately, and the GM took no action. Clearly I'm not 100% on the details since I haven't been able to stomach WoW for months now, but the disgust was very evident from the Fury member I talked to. Anyone else killed Nefarion yet, or had him despawned? |

| This is old news by now, but I hadn't heard about the 30% on nefarious part... that much IS disturbing. I'd imagine the GM's despawned him because the fallout would've been enormous. Apparently the story is their door opened legitimately and they were allowed through - even though it obviously left conflicting messages to the rest of the community. If nefarious had been killed you can imagine everyone would already be ranting about that. Simply getting to him and 30% is so fucking ridiculous... BWL was supposed to be the "hard" zone as tigole put it. What is going on with this game? The hardest part about BWL is surviving the lag shitstorm that happens on event 1. If you beat that it looks like its an epic parade all the way to the captain... Edit: You can expect more "hotfixes" to make content harder.. Already added: A deathtouch on a mob 1 hour event blowable timer on the same mob. Wow kids... history lessons were wasted on blizzard designers. Possibly the gayest possible way to make something harder. I would FULLY expect this shit on the remaining bosses. Last edited by Marauder : 07-14-2005 at 02:35 PM. |

I remember Furor used to go crazy when they added deathtouch to mobs. I believe he said designers are too inept to think of anything creative. That it was only cool the first time in PoSky. Blowable timer for a 1 hour event sounds too much like older EQ.

| Well the content in BWL would be "fun" if it wasn't lagged and bugged out. But it will never be "hard" without a redesign. If they're going to keep missing the mark on making an encounter hard without making something fucking stupid like Ragnaros, they should just stop trying altogether and release "fun" zones like BWL every couple of weeks. Thats certainly slower than the rate the EQ team can make raid zones with equivelant amounts of bugs. 8 months for this is horseshit... Itzengend's homepage update sums up how all of us who have done/tried/pooped on BWL feel. |

+5 Internets | Has there been any "confirmation" that Blackwing isn't the boss of BWL? While I think it would be way early to put a mob like that into WoW, I wouldn't think it's unreasonable to find Blackwing in Blackwing's lair. Either way, it's very depressing to see this "hard" dungeon being raped through the pants. |

You mean other than it being called "Blackwings Lair?" Kinda like a "Sleepers Tomb" without the Sleeper ![]() | |

| Pot.. meet kettle You know what though guys - say what you will about Furor and Tig. They did the same content we did during EQ; they ran into the same bugs we did, and in many cases before those bitching did. After all their bitching, ranting, and so on against SoE, these changes show either: a.) Game and content development is no where as easy as both they thought and you think. If they're responsible for the content we're seeing, then it lends to the credibility of SoE in finding its direction. Further, even if they're responsible for the cockblocks, I'd trust the content in their hands over the arm-chair posters. or B.. They're not calling the shots like many believe. They may have design control within limits - I'm sure they have to answer to a supervisor, who answers to a producer, who answers to a manager, who answers to a collection of marketing/business/non-gamers who want to appease 1.990 million subscribers over 10,000 or so world-wide hardcore gamers. In which case I once again say, given that restriction, it's still a good attempt. WoW is not made for that 10,000. The casual masses are always going to take precedent - but given enough time (including time to learn from their content fuck ups, just like SoE had to do) there'll be content for the small minority of hard-core raiders. Until then, use that link on Blizzard's page to find a job. Oh, you're not qualified for the positions? Then go back to Russia. |
