I think that is wrong; I would say 15.

But if a 13 year old can face the worst penalties of being a citizen should they not have the right to vote, hold office, drive, make medical and personal decisions and etc. just as if they were 18?

Use of violence or threats fo violence rarely pay off. GIving her the informaiton and knowledge needed to make an intelligent choice is a much better stratagy. In Iraq and Iran women are kept without enducation and told what to do; that is not for their benifit but rather for those who use force to control them. Those who keep knowledge from others and "prohibit" by the use of force do so for their own ends and not for the benifit of the females.

Give your daughter tons of information about birth controll, how very hard it is to raise a child, how little freedom she will have if she has the child, tell her everything about how guys will take advantage of her and then let her make an intelligent decision based upon the knowledge that you give her.

Well I'v never caught a STD so I didnt really consider that as a down side; yes you are correct, so have her tell her partners to take tests; and give her information about STD's. I don't have any problem with a law prohibiting those with Aids from being requried to tell their partners before doing anything.

We have laws for reasons, one of them is that parents are 100% responsible for their children's well being until they are of age (18). Because CHILDREN, yes a teenager pre-18 is a child in the same manner a toddler is a child, or an adolescent is a child, are protected from being homeless.

We have laws for when you can drive, when you can vote, when you can buy cigarettes, when you can buy alcohol. I would argue that citizenship would go hand in hand with the right to vote, hence 18 makes perfect sense to me. This was one of your justifications. Yes they pay taxes in the form of sales tax. They also are provided free education till 18, free parks, fre sidewalks, free roads, free public libraries, free protection from Police and Fire, etc etc. That money goes to many things, towards a 55 year old child predator it does not.

Thats fine if you take the postion that everyone under 18 is stupid, then you would agree that we should not make them responsible for any crimes, including murder, they might comitt because they are idots in need of protection. I just say the age of consent should be the same as the age of criminal liability.
