Any monitor suggestions?

Getting a new monitor soon, my 6yr old 21inch monitor is showing it's age... the resolution only goes up to 1020x760 =(

Looking to upgrade to a 24inch monitor... any good suggestions around the $200 range? I've never bought a monitor before so I have no clue on what's good in the market.

Even my 21" CRT was about $200. I imagine any decent 24" LCD is going to run considerably more.

I've had really good luck with Acers, and I like their build quality for the price.

But:

Newegg.com - Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 28" 3ms Widescreen LCD HDMI Monitor 500 cd/m2 800:1 Built-in Speakers - LCD Monitors

^^^ this is a bit higher than your price range, but I don't think there's a better priced large LCD than the Hanns G 28". I've been using one for four months now, and it's terrific -- you can read email from across the room! Only thing I'm waiting to see is how it holds up over time. I've gotten 3+ years out of Acers, so I expect the same here...

Also, if you're into Eyefinity, I think Dell makes a 20-21" monitor that has DisplayPort...something to keep in mind if you want to do the panoramic thing down the road.

I got a samsung 24" for like 200-250 somewhere in that range. It's probably gonna be fine, honestly. Most people don't spend all day critiquing their monitors performance, so until Lyenae shows up and calls us all retards for not buying a $4000 monitor, just go down to best buy and get whichever one looks the best to you in your price range.

Only MSRP, they drop to ~200 on sale frequently. I think I paid ~220 for Dell's G2410 monitor which is listed at 380.

Sure thing. I was using it for movies, too, while i waited to get a plasma tv. Does a solid job. Like I said, the only question mark is longevity.

I just bought that in the HPB version (1:1 pixel mapping is the only difference), and it showed up today. Thing is awesome.
