| Sleep Aids Did a search and didn't see anything so. . . I'm sure I'm not the only person that has trouble sleeping. . I can sleep for 13 hours. . a perfect 8 hours. . .15. . 4. . whatever. . .and still feel like I didn't get any sleep at all. . .I'm always tired. A friend suggested Melatonin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and I use it every now and then in the hopes I'll feel something. .. and I don't. . .I ocassionally take a Tylenol PM to try and knock me into a deep sleep and that doesn't work. . . What do you guys suggest? |

| Box of wine Knocks me right out. Seriously though I recall five people over my life who have complained about getting a lot of sleep and still being tired who actually figured out what's wrong. Three snored hardcore and had sleep apnea, constantly waking themselves up without remembering through the night One had some kinda complication with mono One was badly anemic. You make it sound like your problem isn't getting to sleep but rather getting productive sleep. If that's the case you need to address the root problem, not drug yourself into unproductive sleep.

+3 Internets | The only thing I have had thats over the counter that helps me is Nyquil. The only bad thing about it is if I cant get atleast 6-8 hours of sleep, Im groggy when I wake up. Another thing that helps me sleep is pot. Only side effect with that is crazy dreams.

| For sleeping I like to get some instant oatmeal and make it in the microwave with milk (not water) and it will help you sleep. I find that bananas are also pretty good. The other trick is to wake up earlier and not take any naps, then before you want to go to bed read a book in bed and you will doze off in no time. The nyquil and tylanol PM and stuff like that works but in the morning it always makes me feel groggy and in a haze. But you say that you can sleep 8 hours and you are still tired so you have some sort of problem not connected with sleep. It sounds like you have some prolongued fatigue. Maybe CFS: Chronic fatigue syndrome - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Is being tired after you sleep your only symptom? Do you have a sore throat or anything else? CFS: persistent fatigue unrelated to exertion and not substantially relieved by rest, and accompanied by the presence of other specific symptoms for a minimum of six months

+16 Internets | Assuming you've already cut out stimulants and have tried better diet, hard exercise during the day, etc, you probably need to go to a sleep lab and get yourself checked out. Might be some kind of other issue going on, like dak says. PS dak I <3 u ~

+6 Internets | Sleep I'm willing to bet its sleep apnea, thats what it is for most people who can goto sleep, but wake up feeling like they haven't slept. Used to share a room with my roommate and that bastard snored like crazy. It seemed like every half hour or so he would stop snoring for like 20 seconds, then gasp for air, waking up for a couple seconds and going back to sleep. He didn't even realize it was happening. Imagine trying to get a good nights rest if someone woke you up every 30 minutes. Would be awful. |

| Melatonin works for a few months, if it works at all. Most people already have enough melatonin, despite still having insomnia. If you already have enough, it won't work. If you truly do have real insomnia (i.e. you exercise, and read before bed, and still can't sleep) then I'd try Seruoquel 40mg. It's better than Ambien, Lunesta, Xanax, etc. Edit: Oh, and one thing I've learned about insomnia is that being on your computer just before you go to bed is about the worst thing you can do for your sleep, specially if you were playing a game before hand. Get off your computer at least an hour before bed.

+10 Internets | have you recorded the sound of your sleep ? i have considered getting one of those breathing machines that keep your breathing normal. would have to do sleep treatments first and i never wanted to bother, i lost my insurance so i am fucked now. i recorded my sleep and during allergy season and it sounds like i am dieing. i pause breathing for like 30-45 seconds. i choke, cough, snort and weeze, during the day i just have to clear my nose few times a day but when i sleep that snot goes down my throat. |

| I do read before I go to bed to unwind. . . I don't have the best diet, would getting a vitamin like Centrum®: scientifically-advanced complete multivitamins do anything other then waste my money? I deliver for a living so I'm driving around for breakfast-lunch 4 days a week .. I don't eat fastfood so my choices are kinda limited. . I try and get a salad once or twice a week but those are kinda hard to eat while driving. . . |
