| Garmin Forerunner 405 (For Running) Does anyone use a Garmin Forerunner 405 for running? I was using the Nike+ with my Ipod but the battery just ran out on it after only 113 miles run total. Plus I found that the Nike+ was not too accurate I would do the same runs sometimes and it would say 4.5 miles for one run and 4.70 for the next run of the same distances. I am now trying to make up my mind, buy another nike sensor or shell out some extra cash for the Garmin Forerunner. I have heard that the garmin Forerunner is pinpoint accurate but I have read mixed reviews that pretty much clash with each other so I don't know what to think really. I just want to know if it is worth the $300 or so. Also is there anything else out there that is better?

+58 Internets | I took my nike sensor to the apple store (even though I bought it at finishline) without a receipt (after calling nike and them saying they don't make the sensor, apple does) and they replaced it right there for me. You should try that. I had it well over a year, but told them I had it just under a year and that was all they needed to give me a new one |

| It's not just milage. The pace is more important to me. I like to see how fast I ran compared to other days. You can see how you did pace wise each mile and for the overall run. Basically it gives you all the information that a treadmill gives you but you get to run outside. With all that info it is better for improvement and easy to keep track of your past runs and such.

| I have a forerunner 405, as I do a lot of outdoor running. I absolutely love it, i've used it to track all my runs and races for the last 6 months. If you have any questions ask away. I paid £220 for mine w/ the heart rate monitor which I hardly ever use now but it's good for pacing in races. Long story short- worth 220 quid? Definitely, if you run enough. I run long distances 3-4 days a week so it gets a lot of use. But don't expect to wear it as a day to day watch. I'd consider the 305XT instead if you're a swimming (like I am) and do triathlons. |

| My wife runs a lot. It's her hobby. She loves the Garmin she has. It helps her keep track of her pace and allows her to track her improvements. Her other runnings friends also swear by it. The only thing I can say bad about this would be that it takes a couple of minutes for the GPS to sync up to where you're at. Other than that it's pretty cool. She's lets me barrow it when I mountain bike and it is a fun little item. |

| I ended up getting the Garmin Forerunner 405 and I have used it 3x now. It is fantastic. Much better than the Nike+ that I was using. It is definitely more accurate too. The last 3 days I did the same 3 runs--each 4.07 miles and when I was using the Nike+ on the same run it said it was different distances each time from 3.88-4.11 miles...the Garmin got it exact each time at 4.07 miles. What is cool is you can wear it as a watch too if you want. Anyways, thanks for the comments and I am happy that I got it--it was just what I was looking for.

| Not directly on topic, but I use Runkeeper Pro on my iPhone, does similar things as this, automatically uploads to the web so you can keep track it stuff online as well as on your phone, pretty awesome.
