Walmart Foglights

I came across some extra cash and decided to try out some cheap lights I found at walmart. I bought a digital multimeter and these lights and the total was $34. Not a bad deal. They took me a little while to install because I really wasn't sure how or where I should be grounding things, and running wires and all that. I chose to mount them on the handlebars because I wanted to be able to have some directional light. I plan to do some trail riding at night, so it would be nice to be able to see the direction my handlebars are pointed. I'll update with how they look at night.

To mount them, I filed down the bar that goes across the handlebars. Forgive me, I don't know the name, I have only owned my raptor since early may. Once I filed it down so it was on a semi flat surface, I drilled through the middle to mount the bolt. They mounted nicely. I ran the wires directly to the battery, so the lights can turn on even if the key is off. If i can figure out how to do it another way I will change it. As you can see from the second picture, I didn't know where to ground the lights. So I used my multimeter to test the continuity between the negative battery pole and the handlebars. It beeped so I knew it would work as a ground. It looks a little messy becaause the wires they supply you with were about 12" long. I think I may rewire the ground wires to ground the same place where I have the switch grounded, which is to the coil? I think. its right on the frame.

It comes with an illuminated rocker switch, which I mounted on the left fender. As you can see I messed it up, and where I was originally going to mount it, there was a metal support coming out, the switch wouldn't have fit. Doh! That's why you measure twice and cut once. So I moved it down a little bit, and it fit nicely. Wired up real well.

They are meant for cars/trucks, but I figured I would give them a try. I'll let you know how they work at night. They got pretty bright during the day in my garage, so I have high expectations for them.I just hope they hold up with all the bumps and bouncing around.
