+3 Internets | iPhone earphones/ear buds Im looking for something other than the stock ear buds that come with the phone. I bought some Vmoda ear buds, but after about 4 months, the cable broke right where the wire meets the connector and when I moved, the cable moved and the music or whatever would cut in and out. They sounded awesome while they worked, but they were $100 and only lasted a few months. Has anyone tried the Beats by Dre earphones? I was looking at them at the store and they have a flat instead of round cable so it looks like they wont bend like the round ones will and might last longer.

+6 Internets | Haven't tried the ones in question, but I'd recommend these: Buds: Amazon.com: Creative EP-630 In-Ear Headphones: Electronics Reviews: Headphone Reviews :: Creative Creative Labs EP 630 Great price, good isolation, and above average sound quality. There's a little bit of wire noise, but I think that comes with a lot of low-mid quality buds. |

+2 Internets | Beats by Dre suck for the iPhone, just my experience the phone just cannot drive them to sound like they should. I really like my sennheiser cx300 for the money, had these for a couple years now. I also got the sennheiser MM 50 iP to use with my iPhone and it works great. Found them on sale at newegg for $50 a few months back. Sennheiser USA - Headphones and Headsets - Microphones |

| These are expensive, but I've had them for years and have loved them for every second. Passive noise isolation = win. Etymotic Research, Inc. - ER-4 MicroPro Insert Earphones |

+3 Internets | The only thing that sucks about most aftermarket earphones/buds is that they dont have the control button on the headset that allows you to answer calls, activate the voice control and change the volume without having to take the phone out of your pocket.

| I have the Bose ear buds and they are awesome, albeit expensive. Bose In-Ear Headphones – Audio Headphones - Bose Headsets and Headphones The skully candy ones recommended earlier are good too. I got a pair free with the last season of Entourage on DVD. Edit: one of the good things about the Bose ear buds is you can listen to the music loud and people around you can't hear it. I fucking hated being on the train early in the morning (if I'm not listening to my own iPod) and hearing people blast their music through the stock iPod ear buds. No one wants to hear your fucking techno at 6:30 in the morning except you champ. Last edited by Eyashusa; 06-24-2009 at 11:08 AM.. |

| Yeah, my ears just didn't work well with them. I assume it's just specific to your particular physiology. Other friends of mine had good experiences with the Bose set and hated the Etymotics that I love. It's the sort of thing that's essential to try before you buy, or at least make sure you can return them. |

+66 Internets | I have a set of Sennheiser buds, I think CX200 or 300. They're fucking phenomenal. I also have a set of PX100's, but I almost never use them because they annoy the SHIT out of anyone near me, you can pretty much use them as speakers for an MP3 player if you want. Oh and a pair of MX70's (again, I think) for sports/running. I'm sure there's other brands that are equivalent or even better (Grado etc), but from where I stand I can't see any reason to ever buy headphones that aren't Sennheiser. They're fantastic. |

The problem with IEM's is definitely finding the right fit. But once that's sorted, they sound amazing. To the OP - supposedly the Apple IEM's are good. People on head-fi had pretty good things to say about them. Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic - Apple Store (U.S.) They're reasonably priced for a dual driver set of headphones. | |

| Flaccid Steel | There are plenty of good companies out there that provide good in-ear phones with mic nowadays. Just depends on how much you want to spend. Some suggestions: Ultimate Ears (super.fi 4 vi, super.fi 5 vi, triple.fi 10 vi) Shure (none of them but they can come with push to talk) Etymotics (HF2) As for the apple, I have no clue. I personally would stay away. You never know what drivers they use for their headphones. I would also stay away from Bose. They lick balls. If The Beat was around 150-200 range I would go for it though but for MSRP? I would pass. EDIT: If you buy Skull Candy I will personally send ninjas after you... |
