+74 Internets | XCOM: Enemy Unknown Most people are upset at 2K games version of XCOM which takes it into the FPS genre and not the strategy one we expected. Well Firaxis is fixing that by announcing XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a strategy game based in the XCOM universe! These are the people that made Civilization so they know strategy. One drawback is that is going to be a 360/PS3/PC game, although the original XCOM game was eventually released on the Xbox 1... XCOM: Enemy Unknown Announced - G4tv.com |

| Yeah, it should be interesting to compare the indie remake (Xenonauts) to the big[ger]-budget Firaxis remake and see who captures the spirit of the classic games best.

+385 Internets | I pray that this is a hit, so that more studios will feel that the western market had a demand for them.

+4 Internets | XCOM/UFO these were the times. The hours i spend on this game without ever beating it, unbelievable. I will always remember "Jockel the Illuminator", my scout with flares and only a pistol running bravely into every UFO, building now matter how many aliens could be in. I hope they get the feeling right. X is now controlled by the Aliens... ![]() |

Regardless, it's certainly possible to make a console UI for a strategy game with turn-based combat. You just take the PC interface and make it clunky as hell with button navigation done by the D-pad instead of a mouse.

| Pretty sure it's a sectoid. The ones with psi powers were a pain in the ass in the original game.

Well, the greys in xcom weren't that menacing to begin with I don't think...at least not physically. Heavy Plasma...alien grenades...blaster launchers...now THAT shit was menacing. I can remember hearing the sounds of a blaster launcher during the alien movement phase and going "Fuck...FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK". Wonder how many games I restarted because I'd lose half a team randomly to one. Occasionally would land and have an alien lined up directly so he could see into the end of my ship, and would have a blaster launcher. Try to move, alien reacts....entire dead landing party ROFL.
