| Btw - you basically listed a bunch of console RPGs that (with the exception of Mass Effect) are on par with every other console RPG ever made since you know, that's how the RPG genre has worked since its creation. Stupid x2. |

| The games this gen have been pretty good overall. You might say you had a lot of IPs last gen you really enjoyed but to say they all were awesome is downright stupid. Since the beginning of gaming there have ALWAYS been far more shitty games than good games. That's something every gamer should have come to terms with back in the early 90's. Also, you need to expect more shit because the video game industry is far larger than it was last gen. Larger industry means more games and if only 10%-20% (note, these numbers have been pulled out of my ass) of those games are worth playing, you're looking at a lot of shit. This percentage has certainly gone down in recent years, too given the number of games made to be easy cash-outs. The industry is not what it was even five years ago. Video games are becoming way more mainstream and we all know mainstream can taint things (see the music industry and all the people that say, "They used to be cool until they got popular"). |

+29 Internets | I didn't really like Mass Effect, I don't think it's "garbage" but it wasn't my thing. But yeah, WOW. Little Big Planet is among the best platformers I've ever played. I don't get that. If you're THAT critical of games, when even the most universally hailed games are just piles of shit to you, what the hell are you expecting? Everyone has their own tastes, and I get that. I dislike a lot of games that people like (like Mass Effect) but I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are shit, just that my tastes don't align with what their goal was for that game. But yeah, I don't understand how you could be a fan of platformers and not like Little Big Planet. That's nuts. |

| I just hate most platformers so maybe I shouldn't have included LBP, but it's something that I wouldn't pay 10$ for after playing in the beta. It focused too much on level building and aesthetics instead of fun core mechanics. Garbage= A game that should never sell for 60$ it should have an initial lower price because of it's quality. The thing is I'm really not that critical or picky about my games I have about 65-70 ps2 games and 15 xbox games and I don't really regret buying any of them besides launch games like The Bouncer, Summoner and Azurik(etc). I'd imagine this gen is amazing for fans of shooters and sandbox/action games. Last edited by Seig; 06-26-2009 at 12:46 PM.. |

| Games are evolving as the technology they put it on itself evolves. There are sub-genres that didn't exist 4 years ago simply because they didn't have the disc space/platform to do it on. Mass Effect is the successor in gameplay to kotor and Jade Empire and it's a good thing. Assassin's Creed is the successor to Prince of Persia. You can either reject it or embrace it, and those of us embracing it are having a lot of fun with these games. Keep in mind that I don't think any console has surpassed the PS2 yet. The last couple years of that console blew my mind creatively/artistically/innovative wise. Both the PS3 and 360 have a long way to go. But that's not to say they're doing badly at all. edit: I find it hard to believe that you hate platformers. Those were many of the funnest games on the PS2. Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank(so I hear), etc.

| Eh, Summoner really wasn't very good at all. Summoner 2, on the other hand...

| I'd rank Summoner 2 as easily one of the best RPGs on the PS2. If you actually liked Summoner, you really missed out by not playing the sequel.

+8 Internets | I could justify my Xbox 360 purchase with BioShock alone. I have no complaints whatsoever about this generation of games. You're on crack Seig. |

Also Sean's "The current gen is the best gen evaaaar!" is... well... let's call that a surprising statement. And how is Activision-Blizzard going lately?

Sure there's some holes, which we would all like to see filled. Some good classic JRPGS would be nice. but DS is doing a nice job more or less, and FF13, and DQ9 and 10 are on their way. | |
