+39 Internets | Did a couple of games, the game is relatively fun, even though I get ganked worse than a fresh 80 fighting top geared arena players in wow. I guess probably cause I play int heroes for now, I figured they'd be easier to handle with the ranged attacks. I played Andromeda, who was pretty nice with the ranged stun+dmg stuff, ganked quite a few people, and I also liked the teleport with another guy, when they're running away and they end up in the middle of everyone else ^^. Also played the Demented Shaman or whatever, heals were pretty weak though after like lvl15, and I kept getting mobs aggro so they'd deplete my shield charges then I'd get raped in 2secs flat. Still liked the support role was pretty fun. Lost both games, but I did ok I think(even on the shaman against a semi premade team I didn't have the max amount of death). I did die at stupid times though, cause I never had enough money to afford shit when I saw other people in my team with as many death and much better items(guess if you die right after you buy something it's not as bad as when you die 100golds away from a 2.7k item). Now the questions: On the puzzlebox, it says you can repurchase the recipe to increase the level, and at 3 it reveals stealth. Do you need to purchase the recipe only, or the whole item again? I'm not sure I understand the 2nd inventory thing, is it accessible like, only from town? On the inventory questions, how do you sell(or can you?) And last question, in games names, there's stuff like AHEM or APEM, any meaning to this? Last thing, this camera is too fucking close, it blows. Wish it wasn't so close, I sometimes stopped running away from people because I didn't click on the minimap and the distance you can run from clicking on the screen is so small, meh. Heard they removed the option to increase it, but damn they could make it so you could zoom out at least a bit. |

| Puzzlebox Question: Just buy the recipe two more times, this works for Codex as well (not sure if there are any other ranked items). 2nd Inventory: Called stash, it is indeed only accessible from town, if your inventory is full it allows you to put things in there without having to drop items to swap them around or do combines. On the question about the buying items, you can actually access the shop (the home town shop, not the Outpost or Secret Shop) and buy items from anywhere on the map. This way you do not lose as much gold, or atleast you get whatever items you want before you die. Thus whenever you go back to the fountain or die, you can just grab whatever items. APEM: AP= All Pick, meaning both legion/hellbourne can choose from the entire pool of heroes instead of just their side. EM = Easy mode, which could be considered a beginner's mode, but its well, a gimick more than anything. You earn twice the gold per tick (not per hero/creep kill), and get more xp from kills, meaning the game goes alot faster and everyone has more money. Good if you don't want to spend the potential 60 mins+ that a good DotA/HoN can take, but it plays COMPLETELY different than normal games. This is because the game is usually divided into "phases" early/mid/late game, which just to make life easy you can throw 20 minute markers onto. IE 0-20 = early, 20-40 = mid, etc. Certain hero's perform better at certain stages of the game, but in EM, early and mid blow by really quick and thus certain hero's become quickly useless and late game carry hero's (usually AGI/STR although you have retarded hero's like Zephyr who can carry if the enemy team is composed of mouth breathers) are always a better choice due to the abundance of gold allowing them to get the items they need to be powerful. As far as Demented Shaman goes (he's ma boy), you shouldn't be tanking any creep waves, your healbomb allows you to wipe out 90% of a creep wave usually if you wait till they are all stacked up in each other's faces. The heal is weak # wise, but it has a very short cooldown and thus is spammable (like all his abilities). A good tactic as him early game is to bait stupid opponents into attacking you, when they do, your creep wave goes and huddles around them and tickles them, which normally does nothing but you can exploit it by tossing a heal on them, which is a gigantic damage spike and early game can take off 2/3 of most hero's hp in a second. Also applying your ministun/snare/dot/stun (Entangle) helps to keep enemies from running so that your creeps can catch up to them so you can healbomb them. Very useful counter for Legionnaire early on since his strength is having armies of creeps huddle around him to trigger the spin. Feel free to ask more questions~ Last edited by CyrusReij; 09-05-2009 at 04:52 PM.. |

+39 Internets | Thanks for all the answers, didn't know you could buy from anywhere, I noticed I could open the shop but thought it was just to look at prices or whatever. You didn't say if I can sell stuff though, I believe I've read you can, just didn't find how to do it(wanted to sell a bracer to get something to make my totem of kuldra but couldn't find it, then scout and some other guy ganked me). For demented shaman, I didn't mean rushing into creeps like that, just that later in the game, quite often we'd be pushing past the creeping wave fight, but since I was like attacking a hero, the creeps would all attack me(archers and stuff) so they would deplete my shield. Anyway I somewhat liked him but gonna try more stuff, there's so many heroes it's a bit overwhelming. |

| I am unsure if you can sell from the field, I have never tried it, I don't think so, but don't quote me. And the irony of your last statement is many of us feel that there are not enough heroes, I belive with Andromeda we just hit 48 or 49, and I think DotA is like 102? or something very close to that. And Electrician/Nymphora/Zephyr/Predator/Arachna/Madman/Scout/The Dark Lady are all new hero's (albeit alot of them have elements of other hero's, we more than likely won't see direct ports of Naix, Nerubian Weaver, Drow/Viper, Bounty Hunter and Sniper because of some of the above), so there is still an asston to port, plus there are atleast 2 more new hero's in the near future (Maliken who will be in the next patch, and a new Panda based hero). So there is alot to look forward to in this. And beta is a great way to learn things and ass up your stats until the game goes live (or just send yourself an invite if you want to fix your record )Last edited by CyrusReij; 09-05-2009 at 05:58 PM.. |

+39 Internets | Well obviously if you've been playing dota you're used to most heroes and abilities and what not, but I've never played dota so every hero is new to me, which makes it harder ^^. Only game like that I played was some game they released not long ago that was a bit like dota, but not really, and it had like 12heroes. It was weirder though, and very simplified. Anyway about selling, I meant how to sell, at all. Don't care if you can't do it in the field(don't really expect to), but I don't know how to sell in town either. Also there's still some subtleties to the game I'm not sure I understand, but usually the guy who lanes mid has to get runes that respawn(or not?), and some heroes can creep in the "jungle" more efficiently than laning, lots of different stuff to learn still ^^. |

| I actually never played DotA, yet I know almost all the hero's and what they do, sad isn't it? Anyhow, you can sell in town (or at the outpost or secret shop) by simply dragging and dropping something from your inventory back onto anywhere in the shop interface. Beware, you do not get the full value for items sold (it should actually tell you how much you get when you mouse over an item while at the shop), you DO however get a full refund if you sell back within like 15 seconds or something (misclick or change your mind whatever). Random note, the game you may have played but with less hero's could possibly be Tides of Blood, very fun game, more emphasis on base building than uber hero death match, but I digress. Jungling is indeed just killing the forest creeps, which according to some are harder than in DotA, so very few hero's can do it from level 1 in HoN. The two you will usually see in there are Tempest (summons elementals that split into more elementals), and Warbeast (summons two demon pet things). Some others can do it, poorly, Legionnaire with double Buckler can... kind of, but whatever. After level 1 though, most hero's can jungle it up to some extent, with some being better than others, a good example is Zephyr, who needs to kill any unit to spawn little tornado's around him which provide the bulk of his damage. As far as runes, they spawn every 2 minutes, at a set location in the river halfway between mid and top or bottom lanes. The spawn location is random, it can go top/top, top/bottom, bottom/top, or whatever. Only one rune spawn will ever be up at a time. Usually mid runs a Bottle (consumable item that regenerates 100ish hp/mana over like 4 seconds or so, I don't know the exact numbers), which you can right click on when empty (they have 3 charges) and use it to store a rune. Then you can use the rune buff (Invisibility, Haste, Regeneration, Illusions or Double damage, depending on the rune color/design), whenever you like instead of right away. Using a rune in this way also causes the bottle charges to refill (alternatively you can go back to your base fountain to refill it). People from any lane can get them, but it is just easier for mid as they are usually closer and can then use the runes to gank either top or bottom lanes (or mid if the other player isn't careful, depending on what hero's ofcourse). Edit: Random note beware, the DotA community puts any MMO or FPS community you have ever seen to fucking shame. It is filled with the lousiest assbags you will ever meet on the planet. whoever negged me for the rune thing, you could have simply posted it, but I guess that would defy the statement I wrote above. Go figure. Last edited by CyrusReij; 09-05-2009 at 07:43 PM.. |

+39 Internets | Thanks for the answers, I had found some by actually playing around a bit on practice and checking boards. I usually always buy a bottle even though I do top or bottom, it seems like a good investment since it refills automatically everytime you die or run back to base(or TP). Did one game with Valkyrie, liked her a lot(well her ulti is pretty shitty in pugs, and I guess even in team games it's pretty meh) even though some nightwhatever asshole kept gibbing me, but I owned quite a lot of people by jumping on their ass, then javelin at pointblank+call, it's pretty fun. I've read a lot about the community, but I've been lucky in my first 3games, there's been leavers and one guy insulted our whole team after he lost, but nothing too bad. It's one of the reasons I didn't start playing this earlier even though I got my key like 2months ago, it all felt too overwhelming, the whole 50heroes and 30items and 13years old elitist fucks, but well I just turned off voice and I guess I'm blessed with non retardation so I actually bothered reading a bit about the game before I started, which prevented me from trying to melee towers at lvl1 and other stuff like that ^^. As for the game, it was Demigod, it has dota principles but it's not really complex at all, it's like dota light. It did give me a bit of insight when I read the dota guides stuff though(I wasn't even aware dota was like that). I take it league of legends is closer to dota, but still rather different while hon is the closest dota-like. Anyway having fun, even though I fucking suck at last hitting so I'm poor as shit. I have trouble judging the amount of damage I do so I end up "second-to-last hitting" ^^. |

| You are not damn right | Can I have some pointers on how to build item wise? What should I be looking to buy at the start and as I amass gold? Also, can you sell items back or do you just destroy them when you are upgrading? Also, add me Chaotic1 - i'd love to play with some good people.

+22 Internets | I suggest you do what I do, keep a tab of the beta forums so that you can just type in a hero to search for a guide. Unless it's a hero like behemonth or magmus that I play all the time I still have to tab out and look at builds after I pick a hero. You can sell items back for a full refund. edit: think I misread the question. When you upgrade an item all of them combine but you can break them up or just sell the upgraded item for a refund. After this it will always depend on your hero Check Keitarus alt tab guide, usually bumped to first page in the forum. Its a quick list what items/skills to get. Really handy and that guy plays beyond awesome.

Boots of Travel (post haste) > Phase Boots (enh marchers) for almost any hero in the game because of the enhanced farming ability, ability to join battles late, and push lanes after a large team battle.. If you are playing a competitive game the BoT will also nearly pay for themselves on the money you save not having to TP everywhere. For a player just learning the game this will not apply but bracers suck on almost every hero and are a crutch item. Unless you are a hero like glacius who is just there for his aura and to survive you should never rely on bracers. Honestly the same thing applies to sustainer. I realize a lot of players like their runed axes but there are better items available on a lot of heroes and giving the guy advice like that basically means hes going boots -> bracer -> bloodstone/runed axe every game is going to fail a large amount of the time because the only way most offensive intel heroes survive late game is by rushing bloodstone to farm easy charges early on.

+166 Internets | I like post haste, but I've never had a game go long enough that I could really make use of them. If I had a ridiculous amount of gold it would be nice to be able to buy in and warp back to my team if I get gibbed early during a fight but otherwise enhanced marchers just provide too huge of a bonus for the early/mid and most of the late game. Creep walk is amazing and ethereal combined with assassin's shroud can put you near the run speed cap if need be. |
