Yeah, I searched around and that does appear to be the only official way. It'd be nice to have a place to post a "beta-resume" to up one's chances instead of relying on dice roll, heh. If you're not keen on the Facebook idea, you can catch a few people at the S2 forums giving away their spares. Usually it's some kind of "tell me a joke", but if you're quick on the draw, you can grab one from a "PM me your email and you get a key" type deal.

Made a Facebook and signed up at S2 just for this. If anyone has a spare key here, I'll add my name into the hat and request one. =)

based on the pics, it is almost an exact dota clone. everything from dota seems to be there including secret shops, 6 item slots, 4 abilities, day/night cycle. the map appears to be an exact copy, including roshan.

We have some spare invites! I dont have an exact count, but its around 5-7 I think. Dota veterans (leagues/teams), uptodate computer and the will to give feedback prefered. All I need is your email to send the invite. PM so we dont spam the thread.

Ehhh, thanks for all the PMs again. Coordination is a bitch, as most people have only 1 invite left. Some invites are out, more coming soon. Hopefully its enough for the PMs I got so far, but I doubt it. Edit: Might work out as they send out +1 invite for everybody again.

Read up on DotA, there's more info out there on that game and that will give you an excellent starting point.

Only two persons with invites left and I cant get hold of them and got far too many PMs.

@Faille: Check the forum, it states what they will do to change that on release and some decent starter guides. Overall its important not to attack (hit "h") and stand back. Dont waste spells on creeps unless you get multiple kills, dont push the lane by autoattacking/using spells without purpose. Never attack creeps on your lane if it isnt last hit (to get the gold) and attack your own creeps once they get 50% or try to last hit them to deny your opponents experience/gold. Its important because you can keep the creeps right infront of your tower which grants you safety and leaves your opponents wide open to ganks.
Basicly not taking damage is more important than dealing damage; as long as your not trying to keep a carry hero down on purpose its more important not to die than killing someone.

Next step is using minimap to avoid ganks and quickly react to help your team. And finding decent item builds for the heroes, usually asking the other players helps there.
