There is so little risk when playing wild soul properly. Send in booboo with phase boots and feral, GG any casters/carries who get caught. Especially effective against people like pollywog, pyro, etc..

+6 Internets | If the opposing team has any Portal Key initiators, you should rush Mock of Brilliance on Booboo. Run him around when you expect them to be close. Mock will hurt them, disabling Portal Key. If they try to attack him, just poof him back to you. And use Booboo aggressively in the laning phase. Put a Buckler on him to limit creep damage and go harass the opponent. With proper micro he is damn near indestructible, and his random hits will wear your opponent down. You won't land any kills against decent players, but you'll harass them hard enough that you will be left mostly alone. |

+39 Internets | I just jungle on wildsoul usually. Buy a stout shield on booboo, a hatchet on booboo and a health potion, then run straight into jungle. Wait at the orange camp closest to the lane on your side until 0:45, then pull the camp and run to your creeps(tell the people in the lane you're doing this though), your creeps will help you kill that first camp, it gives a whole lvl right away. Then just do the the easy camps, and pull that camp into creep waves once or twice more(pull them at 1:15 if it respawned, but most of the time it's not up yet, so 2:15 and 3:15) and just keep clearing. Resummon booboo when he dies, he shouldn't be dying faster than the cooldown, if he is use the potion(usually only happens before lvl5), at lvl 6 send booboo to the side shop and buy a hatchet then give it to wildsoul, go ulti form, and keep farming. By 15-18mins, you should have enough money to buy the Sword for the mock of brilliance and the plans, send booboo to the secret shop to buy it while you run wildsoul back to the fountain to buy plans, call booboo back, combine. Now go in a lane and push it hard, get towers, use booboo to harass people with mock of brilliance, at that lvl it does VERY noticeable dmg, even if it's just boooboo running around them doing nothing else. Buy boots for each when you can, and you can basically rape anyone for the next ~15mins, destroy as many towers as possible, make enhanced marchers on booboo and start building shit for wildsoul, like charged hammer, abyssal skull or wingbow. Assuming you don't get harassed while jungling, and your teammates aren't terrible and haven't been mass feeding, you'll turn the game once you come out of the jungle with the mock. Don't creep stack on booboo it's useless, same with tempest or beast, creep stacking is only for legio(more spin procs > will clear a super stacked camp almost instantly) or zephyr(tornadoes hit all the mobs stacked and they die super fast). Creep stacking on the others just makes your bear/elemental/wolves take more dmg, and you don't have any AEing anyway. As for the micro, wildsoul is actually pretty easy to micro, because you can assign a key to Booboo and it works even if he dies and you resummon him. Just assign one to booboo, one to wildsoul, and maybe one more for both(I usually just recall and drag box them both). Most of the time too, just controlling booboo is enough, if you get jumped, click far on the map with wildsoul then use booboo to block/root people while you autorun, in combat if you feel the micro is too intensive, you can always stay in normal form on wildsoul, with ranged attacks it's easier to stay safe and play only the bear in melee. Only thing is you have to remember to buff Wild every minute or whatever the duration is(45s maybe), rest of the time it's just easy mode, there's nothing to click on it's all passive stuff mostly. |

| Thanks man, good info. Will give him another go later today. I've only played 1 game with him, and did not so bad, but not great. I ended up getting the Mock at about 24 minutes, I think I had died 3 times at that point to ganks. The other team was pretty imba, with a Soul Reaper, Puppet Master, Swiftblade, Magmus, and Scout. The Puppet Master had a Stormspirit and Kuldra, and their Scout made good use of eyes... Combined with Soul Reaper + Magmus AE, it wasn't pretty. Had a leaver to make matters worse. I did end up with a positive K/D, but only barely (9K 7D I think). My team basically gave up at the 30 minute mark and just did their own things while getting ganked constantly. Got fed up, rolled a Night Hound in my next game, and went 22 and 1 against a team of pinoys. :P |

P.S.: If the other team use a good scout, you'll probably be forced out of the jungle and have to lane. If he wards 2 spots you're pretty much fucked, and you'll also get ganked, a lot. The good part about laning is Wildsoul is a pretty awesome harasser.

+5 Internets | Wild soul is safe-ish from ganks if you're careful anyway, since his runspeed is imba. I go for charged hammer before mock, btw. Phase boots on puppy is first priority, after that charged hammer. the dps increase is huge - much greater than a mock. |

+5 Internets | I agree, but what you're talking about is a situational/reactionary build. You may not need it in a game at all (i.e. you have a scout/nighthound, or your team is the only one with a portal key initiator). |

+39 Internets | I haven't tried the charged hammer on wildsoul I gotta admit, I just rush mock everytime(which was only like 3times, when I random him), and I'd guess charged would be much easier to get if you're getting ganked. You said wildsoul can escape ganks, but only if you do buy boots(I straight up rush mock and buy boots after), else mid game you're still moving at shit speed even in bear form, and everyone should be able to catch up to you even with normal boots. Depends on who ganks you I guess, but earlier today it was succ from middle, and there's no escaping her until you have good boots imo. Anyway there's more than one way to play wildsoul, mock has some strong points if you can get it very early in the game, but building other items can make you a much stronger group fight carry and mock loses strength if the game doesn't end fast. Also mock is so so if they have magebane due to his group magic resist buff on blinks. It is definitely one of the best counter to blink key tempest/legio/behemoth though, so situational. A hero I came to like recently after I got better at the game is voodoo jester. At first when I tried him during my first 50games when I was trying all the heroes, I hated him, but now that I can keep a clear mind during group fights and manage to last hit much better to farm gear, I really like him. You throw your stun in, then curse as many people as possible, pop your ulti and go invis(or pop shrunken then ulti depending on what you build) and watch the rape fest. Hell if you can get a staff of the master, the bouncing is just hilarious. Last edited by Pyros; 10-16-2009 at 02:08 PM.. |
