+25 Internets | DSi? More like DSy! HHAHAHAHAHAHahahahAHhahAHahahargl... But yeah, put me in the "wait & see" camp. I also suspect that the download service will have a much stronger support in Japan.

+15 Internets | I am now considering one because of the SD slot. I have been looking around at different MP3 players for a while, but if I can use the DSi to play music I may go for one. Although I have no idea what "AAC" format is for music. Quote:

| Since I lost my DS Lite a while back, this actually makes me want to pick up a new handheld for when I'm bored as heck at work. I'd be curious if the game carts work for this though. Guess there is another bit of something I need to invest into again as well. Damn my wife and her inability to not lose anything. |

The DSi screen enlargement is nice- its noticable and more than numbers make it out to be. The sound toy and picture edit thing is fun to play with... so if you need a new/replacement DS, might as well get the DSi. The DSi web browser works quite well with the zoom square on the toutch screen and the enlarged view at the top etc. Cant wait till there is some DSi only titles that show what we can do

+3 Internets | No. aac is the closer to the industry standard format. it is generally better quality at the same bitrate and allows for more variety of features such as 5.1 channel (for use with its brother video h.264/avc codec in movie encodes) or aac-he 64kbit low bandwidth type stuff which is optimized for voice for low bandwidth internet steaming usage etc. mp3 persists as the consumer format because it's a name 'everyman' associates with all digital music and it has the widest compatability due to being the 'original' format of ripped music. I've been ripping and downloading exclusively (other than using some open standard stuff for lossless) in aac for many years now and I'm pretty sure all the main download services offer music in this format. It is a real shame about the name association of mp3 with music, as in the long run it really needs to be allowed to gracefully retire so that the newer more usefull/capable stuff can quietly take over - like happens in the background with the video side of the equation (mpeg2 -> divx3/4/mpeg4 -> h.264/avc -> ... etc etc).
