[EvE] : Conquests, The Board Game

Interesting to see an EvE boardgame due for release. That post and the info in the current EoN magazine are the only official bits I can find on it, though you can Google numerous pre-order places (example).

• A 30"x32" fold-out board with a map of the EVE universe, the political landscape and the innovative “Action Wheel” that keeps track of players’ activities
• 4 Different factions from which to choose. 2-4 players, each player take the role of one of the major empires.
• Almost 400 sculpted game pieces including ship models, high quality poker-sized chips, resource tokens, outposts and headquarters.
• 63 Region cards that form the political landscape, making every game unique.
• 99 Cards.
• 30 Custom designed combat dice and 2 dice pouches.

Pétur says that EVE: Conquest has been designed to be expandable should it prove to be enough of a success

Be cool if they did a series of miniatures for this.

Anyone have any screenies or more info on it ?

better have a card that instantly eliminates another player from the game, otherwise it just wouldn't be EvE.

This could be awesome if done right. There really hasn't been a good galactic conquest game since Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition, and if this game can streamline the playing experience it would be a good step..

Do you have to let the box sit there unopened for a month or two building skills before you can play it?

There have been some killer boardgames coming out lately. The World of Warcraft one is pretty nice... played it for a good 5 hours the other night only to end in a fucking draw because we ran out of turns and nobody could kill KT. Friends tell me the new Axis and Allies (not sure how new) is nice too, I remember playing that 20 years ago in my best friend's driveway. Scrabble and Sorry are on XBLA now too (also PSN if that Hasbro Family Night thing is there, no idea). Good times for board game peeps.

I know nothing about it, but it gets decent reviews. I'd like to play it.

It takes a lot to get it setup, and i can see it being very hit or miss. But I usually enjoy it, despite every game being 5+ hours and ending at 3am.
