| A Bearded Gnome | [PS3]YLOD ONLY For Registered PS3 Owners With The YLOD Malfunction. - PLAYSTATION®3 General - PlayStation.com Forums So apparently PS3's are have/are dying now and mine just bit the dust last week on Jan 1st. I was accessing the store while waiting for a raid to get together in WoW and it just died all of sudden. I bought mine last year around this time and I think I'm just a week over warranty so I'm gonna be hella pissed if I have to pay $150 to get mine fixed. I don't have the cash till later in the week so I'm not calling till Friday. I have too many games and shit to just not get it fixed otherwise I would just go by a 360. I was pretty big on not getting a xbox 360 because of the RROD but I'm eating crow now because the PS3 has the same damn problems and Sony isn't doing anything about unlike Microsoft.

+5 Internets | My PS3 just failed a few weeks ago. It must have gotten startled when I actually put a game in it. I'd love a YLOD but my power light won't even come on. It was still under warranty but I didn't have the receipt so I get charged $150 to fix it. The Sony help line were completely fucking clueless and even put a random number sign in my e-mail address and couldn't send me my receipt for the repair. When I asked for a customer feedback form or phone number they told me that neither exist. I made a comment about how Microsoft replaced my 360 for free 2 years after I bought it. He responded with "yeah but Playstation 3s aren't defective." THEN WHY THE FUCK AM I TALKING TO YOU!? Fuck Sony. My PS2 crapped out while being in a well ventilated TV stand and my PS3 did the same. I don't care if every video game is a Sony exclusive next generation. The PS4 will not receive my money.

| My PS3 is still running great! As is my PS2 that I bought on day 1 of its US release. My PS1 is also running good which I got on day one of its US release as well, and thusfar, no issues with my XBox 360. I guess I'm lucky. |

| I had to laugh at this. Im a fanboi for pointing out the FACT that the PS3 failrate is nothing even close to the Xbox? Hello to you Pot and Kettle. And really a negative over M$? Not my fault its true that their abundance of money is what keeps their gaming division alive. |

| Most people don't keep receipts for big purchases that they make? The fuck? Seriously? Like I said, you people are completely irrational. Get mad at Sony because you were too fucking stupid to keep a receipt. I laugh at anyone who feels any sympathy for you. |

Same deal with the PlayStation 2, the first one simply died (the lens most likely), the second one is still alive as far as I know, but then I haven't played it in like 2 years.. My Xbox 360 also died on me, gave me the lovely RROD while playing Mass Effect. Got a replacement from Microsoft but this new one ate one of my disks (Mass Effect, go go revenge from beyond the grave for my previous 360), then they sent me another one, and it too gave me the RROD after only like a month. However, after this one-time RROD, it's been working fine ever since (going on 8 months since that happened).. And yes, I probably just jinxed myself, but at least those things are dirt cheap now unlike the PlayStation 3. That's an inevitable consequence of consoles becoming more and more like computers. All computers have parts that can become faulty or corrupted over time, but the difference between the two is that for a computer, you can go buy whatever part you want to replace and be done with it, while for a console you have to either send it back under warranty, or buy the whole thing again.. | |

| I play the fuck out of my consoles, way more than the average person, outside of the 360 - I don't play that one quite as much. I wish there was a playtime counter for them. It would be ridiculous. On average my PS3 or 360 (depending on what I'm playing) is on about 12-15 hours per day at least. My PS2 was on about the same, though today its just on about 2-3 hours a day tops since its in my room and not on the home theater. I also modded my PS1, so I played the fuck out of that too, since I didn't buy any games post-mod. I still use it today from time to time if I want to play a Ps1 game without the inconvenience of sitting in front of my computer. |
