+9 Internets | Just finished it on Hard as Evil. Here is my mini-review (no spoilers.) Overall I think it was a good game, though I honestly don't get the very high praise it's getting. I would rate it a 7.5. Combat was OK at best. Trying to aim precisely with the controller is maddening. Most often, it's best to just run back and forth spamming grenades/megawatt hammer/regular attack. Fighting from the rooftop while your enemies are on the ground is an exercise in frustration as 9 times out of 10 they just run directly under you so that you can't see them. Enemies have crazy good aim and tons of HP later on. Overall, I found the combat to be just something I had to do to progress marked with equal parts fun and frustration. Getting around is a lot of fun and very easy to get the hang of though I wish they would have given you glide sooner. It's not fun enough that I would just run around town for the hell of it, but it's still entertaining. It's actually the most fun when you have quests which require you to quickly get from one place to another or track down moving targets. My biggest problem was often I would press the button to drift, aim, or use the shield and nothing would happen. This resulted in anything from being a minor annoyance to fatal. Quests can get repetitive but are fun enough that I didn't mind. The only types that I really hated where the "Protect this vehicle" ones. My favorites, as mentioned above, were the ones where I had to quickly travel along the roof tops to find my targets. I liked the story though the ending was kind of hard to swallow. For me, it just didn't really connect with the things that had been going on. There were also several loose ends that never got tied up and seemed to just be forgotten about. The last boss fight is worth a mention... it really, really sucked. It was just the typical "Boss does X, you react with Y. Boss does A, you react with B" but stretched almost 10 minutes long. Imagine in Mario 64 if the fight with Bowser was the same but you had to throw him into 30 bombs instead of 3. They could have easily cut his HP in half since, once you have the pattern down, it's pretty easy to win barring an unlucky streak. Overall, I'd recommend a rental or to at least play the demo first. If you really like the demo, then you will most likely feel the same about the full game. |

+6 Internets | Been playing this for a few days now on and off and I have to say it has been quite fun so far. Very easy to pick up and play, story so far has been ok(just got to the second island, nothing to write home about but interesting enough to to keep playing through the story missions). Side missions have been a bit hit and miss, but they are usually over quite fast either way so I don't really mind their repetitive nature. Been sticking to the good side for the first play through and I can't wait to go through it again as evil and just wrecking shit left and right. |

| One of the things that I liked the most about this game was how the side missions were nice small little slices compared to the longer main story missions. Kept them from getting too repetitive and it felt like I could play for 30 min to an hour before I had to do something and still get a lot done. The linking the satellites missions were my favorites, they felt like a 3rd person Mirror's Edge that was more forgiving. |

| Rofl, I'm playing through for a third time, this time doing a good/hard run. Was heading to do the first dead drop quest near the beginning of the game and ran into some reavers near the gas station next to Zeke's roof. The battle there caused the gas station to blow up, but right after that Zeke calls me up on the cell and asks what the hell that explosion was, with a fairly amusing convo. I didn't encounter this till my 3rd time through...anyone catch any other stuff like that? |
