| Those sale numbers are a little weird. They don't show numbers to give a better idea of what is really going on. I'm pretty sure steam and other direct dl are NOT included. Wow and Wow:CE being 2 spots skews it weird. A number of those are sales, including Spore, even though its lists and average of 40. But after that yeah. It's kindof sad which games are being bought retail. Wheres Sins of a solar empire? |

| What i think is meant by megablockbusters - the lack there of- for the Wii is Third Party AAA megablockbusters. the reason is, because the only AAA games released exclusively for the Wii have been Made by Nintendo, no third party- as of yet- has released an AAA exclusive Title for the platform. the quality third party exclusives for the wii have not been big budget made by the best dev team. that will come in 2009/2010- with monster hunter 3, the next Tales "mothership" game, DQX, maybe the conduit, maybe spyborgs (we have not heard anything from this game since the announcment). i have read that there are a few potential AAA IP's in development by 3rd parties exclusive for the wii, but they haven't been announced yet. and overall the wii does have- world wide- higher 3rd party software sales than the 360- has since last christmas i believe. december is going to be interesting this year: will the ps3/psp/ps2 have a YoY increase/descrease? will the 360 continue its good sales with a ~10% increase like november will the wii break the all time record for a december? will it sell(ship) more than 3 million wii's? will the ds continue IT's pace? etc... |

+2 Internets | Which didn't do stellar either, selling something like 346k since it's release. I think LBP problem is the time of year it was released. these companies need to understand that the year has 12 months, it's possible to sell something outside of the flooded holiday time if it's going to be a quirky niche title. This is why we get rehashes and sequels all the time, le sigh. |

+13 Internets | I don't buy the time of month argument for LPB. It's an indie platformer game, I don't know that it would be a million seller under any market conditions. It's a cool little game, but quiet, cute games like it, while still fine games, don't really market to the GoW/Madden/Halo college-frat-guy market that accounts for the bulk of sales.

Did you buy it or are you part of the problem too? I bought it. The fact that you need to be a shooter, a really big name sequel or a Nintendo game or else you won't sell like gangbusters these days is about as big of a problem as the Wii imo, but I won't get into that. I just hope Sega manages to make some kind of profit on this game. | |
