Professional Starcraft

So, anyone else a pro-starcraft fan? I've been following it for about a year now, and it is amazing stuff. The sheer amount of technical skill and tactical acumen seen in high level play is better than any other "esport" out there.

I'll post some information for people who are interested in watching it, just so you know the tournaments, their structure, et cetera.

There are two major tournaments (been around since 2001 or so), the OSL[Ongamenet Star-League] and the MSL [MBC Star-League]; there is also the "Proleague" which has weekly games against various teams.

I'll link a of the most recent OSL (only going to link the round of 16 to avoid spoiling the later rounds). The current MSL is in the round of 8 (meaning there are just 8 players left). If anyone is still skeptical I can link a couple of particularly amazing games that should get you interested.

Incruit OSL Round of 16 Day 1

That is Firebathero, and he is a douche. I will never, ever, EVER, forgive him for his taunting of Savior after an hour long match, bitterly fought set, and the subsequent destruction of Savior's soul.

Oh, and look at that, savior taunted again in that first video.

Have any links for pro-WC3? I really only follow starcraft.

I wonder if SC2 will be as popular as SC1. The game felt pretty good at BlizzCon.

Hope so. Looking forward to the matches that SC2 looks like it will deliver

I watched OSL but got bored after all the zergs were eliminated.

Should probably watch the finals sometime...

How come the korean spectators cover their faces when the cameras pass by?

If you were about to be caught on camera at the geek championships, wouldn't you?

You don't see people covering their faces at anime conventions... and that is worse IMO.

Zergs def make for better matches; the finals are def worth watching though. I couldn't catch it live, but I was able to watch them during my Saturday class. OSL finals spoiler below.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I have high hopes for Fantasy. He wasn't perfect in the finals, but he has a good, creative style and strong micro.

I think Stork made a brilliant meta game move by proxy rushing in the first set. He just has so much more experience in the finals, something like 4 2nd place finishes, and he was really able to put Fantasy off his game. And really good that Stork finally got a win.

Do you get commentaries (in english) if you watch it live? I kind of enjoy those while watching the game.... better than listening to shouting korean gibberish

That protoss vs protoss final was pretty nice... with reaver drops.

For this OSL they (Cholera, Diggity and Moletrap) did a moogulus live cast, so there was live commentating. It started way early in the morning so I had to watch them on jon747's account with the screaming Koreans, but since I didn't have sound in class it didn't matter. I was too impatient to wait for them to uploaded the commentaryed games heh.
