We shall see.

I haven't had an opportunity to beta SC2 yet but from what I have seen it is much more like WCIII in terms of clean pathing and high baked-in unit AI. That's great for casual players but takes out a lot of the interest at the pro level when the macro and micro game can be pulled off by mere mortals and it becomes more of a game of unit counters and nothing else. It'll come along eventually but I can't imagine SC at launch will be balanced, nevermind interesting at the pro level.

GomTV Jaedong vs Effort-must watch ZvZ

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Jaedong really looked tired, I mean, the first game was close, but he lost because of inferior micro and the second game, he had pretty much thrown it away with the build. No idea how he thought he would get away with FE.

Totally wasn't expecting that. The first game seemed like Jaedong had it, i swore it looked like he could of easily taken out the expansion hatchery but I definately don't know more than Jaedong. Effort totally out micro-ed him that whole game though. And with the FE in the second game, it was a pretty stupid move. It was a 3 player map, and honestly 9 pooling seems to be the least likely start to most ZvZ these days... but ya. Jaedong gone sucks, but honestly it was either going to be him or flash eliminating one or the other for one of the final slots. And effort vs flash will be a pretty sweet grudge match I assume, considering Flash just knocked effort out of the OSL when flash gained nothing from the win since he was already out, when effort could of gone into a 3 way tiebreaker with jaedong and fake yellow.

Dude they found someone who looks JUST like Jaedong but plays horrible. The Tempest games, I am having a hard time reconciling the good toss player that rolled Berzerker in g2 with the horrid player that lost g3. And with Jaedong out, I have to go with a Flash v Effort finals, with Flash winning imo.

Heaven forbid a strategy game favoring strategy over how precisely one clicks.

Ya, except that this is Real Time Strategy (RTS), not turn based. Speed & precision have always been ways to overcome superior strategy and definitely something that makes these games so unpredictable & exciting.

Yeah, the fact that it can't be played perfectly is something that keeps the pro scene interesting to watch

Well, it will certainly help make players like me far more competitive. I'm simply way too old to have the twitch of a 17 year old Korean kid.

That reliance on APM (in conjunction with serious strategic and game-quirk knowledge) is what makes pro starcraft tick though and when you take that out, you get the WCIII scene. That's not inherently bad or anything but I don't exactly watch those matches either. I like watching those kids do obscene micromanagement while also making solid strategic decisions and the very fact that it is insane makes it captivating. Watch a few of the PoV casts to get a feel of what is really going on there at the player level.
