I said it should have sold at least as much, which was around 2 million, right? Good job. It's their flagship, less than a million is disappointing and it should be selling more than that. Its numbers aren't amazing.

Suck it up, stop apologizing. It's sad, get over it.

Stop being a ridiculous Xbox fanboi by claiming that it's disappointing for not selling at "least as much" in 2 weeks as a franchise several times bigger sold in 6 weeks.

I don't think you get it. MGS is to PS as Halo is to Xbox.

How? GTA is a bigger franchise by far in the past, so don't see why anyone would expect MGS4 to match/exceed it in sales now.

BTW.

GTA4 on PS3 sold a million in April, 442k in May. (5 or 6 weeks)

MGS4 on PS3 moved nearly a million the last 2 weeks of June.

How is that "sad and disappointing" again?

Stop living in denial and admit that Sony has failed this generation. The PS3 and the PSP are getting their ass kicked by their respective competitors (SOURCE: http://www.vgchartz.com/). I'm pretty sure that's all Sean is trying to say.

The PS3 worldwide has been outselling the 360 pretty much ever since it released (More PS3s sold in '07 than 360's did). Now in North America in '08 more PS3s have been selling. So how exactly is that failing this generation? I never tried to assert that it's winning this generation, or even doing absurdly well...I think it's obvious all 3 systems are proving they'll be successful overall.

(vgchartz is a piece of crap source btw).

Yes, MGS was a major exclusive. However, it's sales are pretty much in line with the success of the series as a whole. I really don't see it's sales as all that surprising. /shrug

Here's also an important tidbit. GTA4 broke just about every sales/revenue record there was. Yet MGS4 caused a bigger hardware sales spike than GTA4 did.

More PS3s sold in June than PS3s and 360s COMBINED sold in GTA4 release month. That's part of why I said MGS4 did amazingly well.

Any word on CivRev's sale numbers? Prefer 360+ps3 - NDS but I'll talk "All Sales" if thats all that I can get.

I am not a "fanatical fanboy", Coren. I simply call it as I see it. I have no everlasting loyalty to any single company.

When the SNES was fantastic, I would have have been behind it on the internet had it been around like this. When the PS1 was on top, I was certainly behind it.

When the PS2 was king of the world I sang Sony's praises and they did bestow upon me many blessings. I pointed out the utter failure of Microsoft's pathetic Xbox and the joke that was Nintendo's GameCube.

And now in the day of this generation, I sing Microsoft's praises as they give me what I want and delivers it in a better package than anyone else. I point out that while I love the Wii, I am saddened by the lack of games that are enticing for me. I point out that Sony is just sad on the gaming front.

Yes, the PS3 sells quite well worldwide - because it's the best Blu-ray player in the world and that's what a significant portion of people buy it for. On the gaming front, it's always lacking - the software sales tell the truth of the matter.

And in the next line of things, or if things happen to change before then, I shall sing the praises of whoever delivers to me a great experience. Hopefully more than just one will and and I shall certainly note their awesomeness no matter what company they are.

You on the other hand will keep apologizing, as is the way of a real fanboy.

Holy shit, Sean. You're coming off as King Xbot of these forums right now. Keep churning that damage control and downplaying. As long as it makes you feel better.

Neither do I. Which is why I had a 360 months before I had a PS3, have more 360 games, etc. There are forums where I have to shoot down the PS3 extremists as much as the 360 extremists (where others don't shoot them down first).

When in one thread though you mention how awesome Valkyria Chronicles is, then make a thread and say "Sadly no PS3 exclusives is on my radar this year", and other little comments throughout, it just really gives a good implication that you've been rapidly decending into fanboi-land compared to what you used to be.

I think MGS4 did VERY well the last 2 weeks of June. Yeah I can understand why some would disagree, and I can respect that (Soygen for instance didn't agree but I have no argument with his post), but when calling it "sad" for not measuring up to GTA4, that really is an argument I'd expect to hear from a 360 fanatic.

It sold 1 million even in the April NPD's. Note that the GTA series is the HUGEST gaming franchise in the world right now and this NPD doesn't track the MGS4 sales that the 80 gig pushed.

Valkyrie Chronicles is awesome, but not awesome enough to make me buy a whole freaking system for it. In that context, it certainly not on my radar. If you have one, you should certainly buy it.

Duh?
