Seriously. I'm pretty tired of gray/brown/low saturation colors in games.

The whole debate is especially silly anyway, because at its heart Diablo is one hell (ha ha!) of a grind. Are you really going to care that the color palette is too colorful on your second straight hour of Baal runs? Fuck no.

This picture was already posted but can you honestly say you prefer the original? The modified version is exactly what D3 should look like.

First: stop fucking posting that picture. If I were a mod I'd delete the next post that included it. I think 20 times in one thread is good enough.

Second: no, it's not. I do not want to start at the extreme of brown and dark at the beginning of the game. There is no precedent for this in the Diablo series, and it is retarded from an art direction point of view. There is no reason for this area to look like the gateway to hell and I don't know what you can do besides more blood and body parts to make it look more gothic from that sort of starting point.

Third: that fucking overused picture is deceptive, as I and other have pointed out. If it looks like that on your monitor then you need to adjust your settings.

Fourth: Blizzard does have to keep in mind system resources. Even if they were to lean to the grittier side of things, a lot of what you people seem to want will demand more on-screen textures and even filtering.

You know what I did last night? Reinstalled Diablo II. You know what the source of "grit" was? The fucking resolution. Hi, you're going from 800x600 2D to widescreen 3D after huge leaps and bounds in 3D acceleration technology. Of course things are smoother-looking, you're not looking at 16-bit sprites on an 800x600 monitor. But some of you assclowns need to come to the realization that just because you can do something in Photoshop (even if you should, which in this case you should not) doesn't mean you can do it in a 3D game while achieving the framerate an action/RPG player should demand.

And where the fuck were all of you cockwits last night when I was chilling out bored reading forums? I hate you all and your mis-timed splurges of idiocy, can't sync up with my schedule? Fuck you.

The "touched up" screenshots all look like fucking dogshit. The grain filter added to give it some grittiness is some of the stupidest shit I've ever seen done and it looks like crap.

I personally prefer looking at clear, crisp textures - because you know, this is Two-Thousand-Fucking-Eight not 1998. And the game starting out looking like shit after 20 years of recovery makes no fucking sense at all you dimwitted cockholsters.

You're going to buy this game, you're going to fucking love it, and you're going to jack off to how god damn good it's going to look despite the feces that's coming out of your mouths.

That's a really good point. I'm surprised so few people take into account the changed setting when talking about what the game should look like. We don't know where in the progression those screenies came from or what the backstory of those given areas is. I have little doubt that the "oh shit this place is evil" mood will pervade the places it needs to pervade, but only those places so as not to render us indifferent to its presence.

Of course, the truly hardcore know that Blizzard ruined the Diablo franchise when they added running, and nothing they do now can save it.

What's so puzzling to me is that people don't understand that this is an act 1 gameplay clip and will be dramatically different than some of the later acts. You don't think there will be blood soaked walls and gore once the plot begins to develop? It's not fucking Doom, there is an actual story being told in these games.

Fog/Sean - How many hours per week do you guys play WoW? Honestly I'm just curious because you two seem to be the only ones in blatant denial that any of the D3 shots resemble WoW textures. There's no point in arguing that they aren't present at least a little bit. Whether or not they belong in the game is what people are arguing. You two sound like creationists arguing that Carbon-14 dating is a hoax.

What does it matter? We're talking to people who insist that a gothic staircase looks like another gothic staircase in another 3D game by the same company, and that some candles look like some other candles. It's hardly even worth a response it's so stupid.

I play enough WoW to know that what I've seen of Diablo so far doesn't resemble it in the fucking slightest and the only people arguing that it does don't play WoW. So let's see, Sean and I having equal experience to everyone else on how D3 looks, and significantly more than most of the detractors on how WoW looks, saying they don't look alike.

You're right, asking for my /played is probably a good way to show how unqualified I am to have an opinion on candle model similarity.
