btw, there is a pecking order. ffvi >= ffiv >= ct > xenogears > tactics >> ffvii >>> rest

Before this was announced they had commented on speculation, and said "if there was enough demand" they would do this. Why are you saying its getting ridiculous for a company to use todays technology to improve on a already solid and proven game? Considering how many games and game companies fail now days, I think this is great news. If more games didnt blow donkey dick, and more game companies kept there promises there would probably not be a high enough demand for this type of thing as often as we are seeing it. Gamers are craving good solid, working entertaining games. Sadly those are few and far between now days it seems.

Your opinion is obviously your entitlement, but dont call something ridiculous that has actually already proven itself to work, without all the false hopes of games being released now.

A man offers you to choose one of two briefcases. One briefcase has a million dollars. The other has a million and one dollars. Both choices are win.

I have the PS remake (And the old cartridge...somewhere) and I will still probably buy this. Damn.

But the million and one dollar briefcase is FF6, right?

The FF6 briefcase is a million and one dollars until World of Ruin...then you discover 1/4th of the money is really Monopoly dollars.

If you've played and beaten this already, I see no point in spending money on a port with 1 extra dungeon heh. Emulators have pretty much ruined any of the direct port to a new system type money grabbing (thank god).

That Chrono remake though looked pretty good, too bad.

The FF6 vs. CT debate is one that will rage forever; the main complaint against CT is the short length.

Is 1 ounce of the best steak ever better than 5 ounces of the second best steak ever? Most would say no, and thus FF6 wins.

And yes, I will probably end up paying for this, despite doing enough New Game+ shenanigans to completely max out my chars in the SNES version and maxing out half the party in the PS1 version. (Not that tab farming was all that hard - throw berserker items on the party and the first time combat actually involves a button press is when you have to run away from oozes in 2300 AD.)

I used to think that way. Then I put all my shit for sale on Ebay. Cashing in $100+ per Sega Saturn game and $75+ per Square PS1 game = win.

With the widespread availability of Emulators and Roms, along with the repackaging and reselling of old games (XBLA, Virtual Console, regular Consoles, etc), I don't expect the value to keep increasing. It might, but I wouldn't stake money on it...especially when there's hardly enough time to play new games, let alone revisit a bunch of old games in nostalgia.

Uh...pretty shitty analogy when you leave out the fact that you can regurgitate the 1 ounce steak, eat it again and again and again and again, and it still tastes better than the 5 ounce steak each time.

Of course, FF4 is better than CT or FF6, so its a moot point.

I got hard just seeing the thread title. Between FF3/FF4 remakes, and now Chrono, I can't see how any SNES RPG fan would be disappointed with the DS.
