Wii Yoga. "Follow along with an inspirational yoga guru instructor matching their on-screen poses, stretches and triangular positions with the motion sensing Wii controller and balance board." Microsoft avatars are a poor attempt at Mii's, but Forza 3/GH4 sound sick. Just remember these are all "leaks" from Neogaf. They may or may not be true. Nothing has been discredited so digest without salt at your own risk. I just felt it was intriguing enough to post here. |

+2 Internets | Basically a whole lot of information that I don't really care about... true or not :[ Avatars sound gay. I already knew Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 was coming out. Ditto with the Spiderman game. Don't really care for the rest.

| "Take songs from a CD or your ipod, and upload them into the game. The game will reduce the vocals so you can sing along and be heard, and score on whether you're in tune. Lyrics can also be added directly into the song to sing along.\" This is really cool, if implemented well. |

+5 Internets | Wow, Microsoft really wishes they made the Wii it seems. From all the unoffical rumors about "Newton" their Wiimote clone and now the Mii rip offs. I understand the casual market is huge and being a business you'd want a piece of that large pie but damn! If you want to sell to the masses, drop the price point again already and stop marketing games like GTA4 or CoD4 so hard, the people that are going to buy those games will buy them anyway. |

MS has a fantastic base to build from. It's up to them whether they abandon the hardcore for the casual like Nintendo did. I don't think they will -- XBL subscriptions alone bring in millions upon millions a month. | |

+5 Internets | I'm not saying give up advertising completely, I'm just saying if MS wants to sell more 360s it's going to have to lower the price point and prove to the parents it's not a murder machine. When all the big games for the 360 have you killing people it doesn't go over well with the people looking to get Timmy a new console. This, even more so than the RRoD is the 360s biggest problem, it's viewed by the masses as the hardcore frat boy system when it could have easily swooped in and been the next everyman system like the PS2 was. Things like the Avatars and Lips are just MS getting to the party late again despite having a early launch. They've done nothing to grow their market share much from the last generation Xbox even given Sony's fumble. Pimp games like Viva Pinata or...ok, I can't think of any more but that's besides the point! If MS wants to capture the casual gamers they need to change the image people think of when the view the 360. Show more kid/family friendly games and try to get games Boom Blox for your system or something. As for the Newton, I think we'll see it next generation. The only game peripherals that have sold well outside of what comes in the system box are the GH/RB stuff and now the Wii Balance Board. Trying to get people to buy something after the fact unless it's boxed in with something the people think is awesome and a must have. Next gen all systems will have motion controls out of the box! Now don't get me wrong, I really like the 360, Xbox Live is the best online system out there right now and their controller is by far my favorite but it's not doing enough to be different and everything is tries isn't being marketed correctly or it's just not supported enough. Maybe next console cycle though they'll do better. |

I'd rather them try new software in the middle of a generation than wait until their next system. Franchises take time to gain a foothold in consumer mind share. Quote:

+5 Internets | Oh, I totally agree, no one saw the Wii coming. I mean I knew it would be different but I didn't think it would be this big and I thought the demand for them would have died off some by now. But they could have done a better job against the PS3 for sure, if things shake out the way they are going MS will end up in 3rd place by the end of this which is worse than last time. If the PS2 or the Wii has taught us anything, it's that you don't need alot of great games but you do need alot of mediocre ones. The 360 getting JRPGs is a good step, you don't need them to grow in Japan cause that market is switching to mobile platforms slowly but surely. You need to get the JRPGs to get the RPG fans and girls. You also need more color, most of the 360 games are shades of gray/brown/black. At least Halo is kinda colorful when compared to Gears of War. Just because you've used color doesn't mean your game is kiddie or childish, not everyone will think that way but it works. This will most likely be the last generation with huge 3rd party exclusives so you need to start building your own name for yourself and changing the way you look now or else it's just going to repeat next time around. Sorry for the derail all! And thanks for keeping it civil while I ramble on Risky! |

| I think avatars is more a response to PS Home than to Miis. Though I've seen developers hoping it'll take the stick out of Nintendo's arse regarding Mii usage in 3rd party titles. |

| I don't know it all that well, but it's definitely not simple for 3rd parties to use them. I'm pretty sure Nintendo wanted to monopolize them in their own games, blocking 3rd party usage. |
