They are talking about not just 1 on 1 interaction. Which was fairly limited as well.
But secondary interaction. Ashley talking with Tali for instance.
As it is in game, thats a large part of how you find out Ashley is a xenophobe and hates aliens.
For one, what was there is REALLY easy to miss if you skip the elevators and use the transport. And second, there just wasn't much of it at all.

You're right on the missed conversations, too. I didn't even know about them until I beat the game the first time and read that there was a Love achievement. =\
No that's not true at all. It's Bioware, the guys that made Baldur's Gate for crying out loud! 8)
If it was someone else, I wouldn't even have noticed it, but since it was Bioware I was expecting interaction between NPCs a la Baldur's Gate. Perhaps it's a bit unfair though but since the game got hyped due to dialogs alone I think it should have included some more NPC interaction.
Guess we'll have to wait for Dragon Age for that kind of NPCs?

Quality of dialogue has definitely gone down now that everything is voiced over. I guess that's the price for not having to read every bit of text. They still managed to include a bit of interteam banter in both the KotOR's though so they really don't have an excuse.

Hmm that's a really good point actually, didn't think about the reason being voice over. But yeah, they did it well in Kotor (not as good as in baldur's gate though) so they should have been able to do it in ME as well.
I don't care if those conversations got voice or not, as long as they are in the game.

There were ~80 such interactions in PS:T--with voice-overs--and that was nearly a decade ago... people cut today's games way too much slack. Admittedly, PS:T wasn't fully voiced, but that's forgivable for 1999 and for the fact that there were something like 2.5 million words of dialog in the game, which is about an order of magnitude greater than your average game today.

And speaking of PS:T, if you're looking for a reminder of how the very best CRPGs are supposed to be made, now's the time to [re]play it. A new set of mods to fix nearly all the bugs, patch in some stuff that BIS left unfinished, and tweak parts of the game (like making the NPC interactions happen on a regular enough basis so you might actually see them all happen in a normal game) were just released this month.

Cool, I'm gonna have to dig up the old discs and try those mods out.

Just finished the game and it was pretty damn awesome. The overheat bug sucks, but you can get rid of it by deleting your profile. You lose your achievements but on the PC that doesn't matter much if you are just doing one play through. If they patch it you can just use an editor to give them back for a second play.

Graphics were good, voices were awesome, teammates were good. Only real complaint is the game was just too easy. As a soldier I just couldn't die unless I took 2 direct rockets before I used immunity. By halfway through I could pretty much perma-immunity plus have instant full shields and tons of innate damage protection.

I used Tali and Liara exclusively once I had them both and it made for a sick team. I could open/hack anything and I had a max First Aid character with full Biotic powers lifting everything.

Assault rifle is also sick. With a Frictionless and a Scram mod I could just shoot nonstop forever. Switch 40% synth and 40% organic bullets depending on the situation and everything just died while I stood in the open and laughed.

Story was amazing, the amount of lore and backdrop in the game is insane. 100s of planets, each with a bio. Tons of voiced codex materials and other goodies. It's a lore/info lovers wet dream.

Halfway through the first time and I was already thinking about my second play. I'll likely skip a ton of side-missions this time though. Especially all the survey/discs/medals that didn't amount to jack.

Game is definitely amazing though. If the DLC is top-notch it could crack the short list of my favorite games of all time. I'd rank it mid-teens as is, with a shot at top 10.

I enjoyed the game, but only a few of the side quests were fun, and that was basically anything that didn't involve landing on the planet, driving over shitty hilly generic terrain in the mako, and then going into a cookie cutter base. There was a huge amount of potential in exploring other planets, which I felt wasn't exploited at all. If you ignore those quests, then you basically have only 10-20 hours of main game play, which is dissapointing.

The lore and backstory aspect was actually pretty impressive. Reading all those Codex entries was cool. It's a shame, because I feel this game could have been incredible with even a few more months of devlopment time. I liked the NPC-NPC interaction when it actually happened too. Heck, it was worth going in elevators just for that.

Driving the Mako makes me want to stab people right and left. Why is every interesting thing on a planet in the middle of the equivalent of the Rocky Mountains?

I was going to make a joke about bombing EA headquarters, but ten I figured that the way our society is evolving, it won't be long before a retarded insane gamer will kill a publisher CEO for doing this to their studios.

QFMFT. I'm really trying to like this game, but there's something about it that makes me not care if I finish it. Baldur's gate 1 and 2, KOTOR 1 and 2, NWN 1 and 2, those were games I couldn't tear myself away from the computer, this game is very "Meh" to me. Can't tell if it's the shitty controls or I just don't care about the lore....

I finally finished this game. The ending wasn't to bad but I had really high expectations. The last actual fight was al ittle cheesy since the hardest part for me was just keeping Saren in sight.

This is the first game I've finished since going through all of Half_life 2 when the Orange Box came out. Its going to be a long wait for the 2 part. I'm going to have to dig up KotOR now since I never finished that.

I beat the game like 4 1/2 times. I was pretty underwhelmed at the end. I only replayed it so often to consume every bit of content. I didn't unlock every achievement, but I came close. I didn't try to unlock some of the ability achievements at all.

It could have been better, and I now fully understand the frustration of the inventory system. I'd have to say the game is 3.5/5. If you grade it on a curve against the complete shit in existence it would be like 4.5/5, but there is just too much room for improvement.

I honestly thought the game was longer than it was, but that's because my first 2 playthroughs were awkward and ass backwards.

Because you should rate a game's length on how long it is AFTER you've beaten it multiple times?
By that logic, Chrono Trigger is a 10 minute game, or a 4 hour game if you're genuinely going to force me to run through it all.
