PC Version has more content in it than the 360, so you'll get even more out of it.

Basically they added 5 additional chapters where you fight the Brumak.

Can you blame them? Gears brings in ridiculously more money than UT does these days.

And Cliff gets a bad rap, he's a nice guy in person, just tries too hard to be famous_designer_guy

It's amazing how I'm taking time out of my gaming schedule to continue playing Gears of War 1, and haven't gotten bored nor do I think I ever will.

Yeah, it's that good. I have it for 360 and PC. Both are really good. You choose.
Were the bugs in the 360 version ever patched out and fixed? Because that shit sucked big donkey balls.

Basically if you died while doing any sort of action (reloading, swapping weapons, or revving chainsaw to kill someone) your controls were locked out on the action that was going until you pause the game.

Holy fucking shit was that annoying to deal with and really fucked us up until we learned how to fix the issue as it occurred.

The biggest thing that I think gets overlooked the most about this version is the number of characters they can have on the screen at once. You're going to see more than 5 max running around meaning they'll actually be epic battles rather then a series of small skirmishes.

The look of GoW really impressed me when it came out. Sadly, the controls, did not. After everyone going on and on about it I rented it and just couldnt get comfortable with it for some reason. I think I would like it MUCH better on the PC as generally Mouse >>> Gamepad for nearly all FPS's. Maybe I'll get around to it this summer when the new release drought hits.

Gears of war isn't an fps.

Tps with restricted rate of movement, such that instant angular changes are impossible, I find to be more enjoyable with game pads. Wii controller EXCELS here because the aiming, movement, and camera can all act easily independently.

Yeah, I had no problem with the controls.. one of the best for a shooter game on a console period, imo. As for that bug Kheldin.. I've never come across in the year and a half or so I've owned the game, I assume you're talking about some singleplayer glitch? /shrug. I guess it's been patched out - I didn't own gears the first 2 months of its release though, so perhaps that's when it was prevalent.

Supposedly at this MS convention in San Fran they're going to be showcasing more of the first level, I wonder if it's going to show any other new features beyond what the gameplay video did.

gears of war multiplayer details:

IGN Advertisement

TL/DR version:

Active Reloads don't always increase damage, they can increase range, RoF, etc.

New weapons: Flamethrower, Poison Grenade, and a new super weapon (ala hammer of dawn)

Not invulnerable during chainsaw duels (or any animation attacks)

Repeatedly hitting someone with bullets causes movement slowdown (in hopes of stopping shottie wars)

New Game Modes: Meatflag- Like capture the flag, but the flag is a AI opponent you have to down, then use the new meatshield function to drag him back to base.

Battle Camera- after death lets you take screenshots.

New downed player mechanics- you can crawl, call for help, and blow yourself up via grenade. Dunno how I feel about the last one.

Can't wait

Definitely a change for the better. Even though I enjoyed getting downed while their entire team just crowded around me and shooting me with the occasional pistol shot... I'm glad there will be other options other than "sit there while 4 12 year olds call me a faggot for 2 minutes."
