Yeah im not sure if youre confused about the original series or what. I was refering to NG2 coming out in june for the 360 lol.

Obviously ninja gaiden black isnt an extremely hard game once you get further through it.. theres a lot of classic games that are much harder.. but theyve all been pretty much notified so i figured id point out one of the more modern challenges.

I have a guess as to why some people are mentionining certain games -

If you were borrowing/renting Mega Man, that game was fucking hard. The bosses were pretty difficult and without a Nintendo Power you had to try and guess what weapons to use on what boss. The final levels are also damn unforgiving.

However, if you owned it, you practiced it enough to handle the difficulty. I think Contra is easy but then again I owned it and I fucking played the hell out of it. Ninja Gaiden? I borrowed that a few times from my cousin and it stomped me in the balls.

There were many NES games that you really had to work at to get anywhere and if you were just playing them for a weekend here and there they can stick in your head as being impossible.

I think its strange how I played all these very hard games when I was young, and can only find lol-easymode games these days in the mainstream department.

It's because more games have difficulty settings these days. Sure, most games may be a breeze on their default difficulty setting. Play Devil May Cry on Dante Must Die. Play Halo on Legendary. Play Ninja Gaiden Black on very hard. The difficulty is still there, you just have to look a little bit harder.

The problem is it gives you the option. There was no easy hard suicidal mode back in the day. I would rather beat a game on hard then impossible and get frustrated now and days.

Hilarious now is playing through first zelda on the original NES with Original game cartridge.(battery is dead so no saves) Its the little things

Overpowering nostalgia here. Only thing is, when I play NES action games on EMU the controls are always off. I don't like the D-pad on my logitech rumblepad much, and the various emus I try always feel input lagged.

I also never got why emulators also emulate NES's blinking sprites and slowdowns. WTF?

Well, it is emulating the NES hardware. Shortfalls and all.

Do yourself a favor and get a PS3 controller. There are hacks to allow you to use it as a controller on a PC. It works fucking wonders and makes for an amazing Nintendo/SNES/N64/genesis/sega controller.

Prince of Persia kicked my ass for a long time. Spent a lot of time memorizing keypresses to beat that game.

Out of this world also kept me busy. Don't think I ever finished it though. Would always mis-step somewhere and have to start over and get pissed and quit for 3 months.
