+2 Internets | Prototype Saw the presentation on this at GDC. It included about 15 minutes of the lead designer playing the game on the 360 dev kit. - Parkour-style free-running with assassin's creed like controls. You run through the city hopping over cars with dozens of different animations, from running of the side of cars to leap-frogging smaller vehicles. - Combat is DMC/God of war like complete with super-gory finishing moves where the target literally gets sucked into you with little tendrils. The first thing he did was grab a citizen-chick off the street and jam his fist into her head, consuming her. - The character progression system involves assimilating different people/monsters in order to transform into them (for stealth) or use their abilities as part of your body. You have 4 slots which can be customized independently or as a group, meaning you can mix and match powers that you've assimilated. Or, you can disguise yourself wholly as a soldier and sneak into a military compound. additionally tactics like being able to fly a jet or tank are earned through assimilating pilots or tank drivers. There's apparently several hundred different types of NPc's to assimilate for various powers, which equates to a similar number of special attacks that were present in hulk ultimate destruction. - The story involves a virus that causes new york to be put under quarantine. It causes people to become all types of hideous monsters. Your character is an amnesiac who has been experimented on with the virus, giving him additional powers. You gain pieces of your memory back by assimilating people who know something about your origin, which is kind of the driving story element for the game. - The world structure is open world. You can explore the whole island of NYC. Additionally, the little zone grids are broken down into various types: from completely military occupied to relatively clean, to infected. These zones fluctuate randomly as the game progresses, causing 3-way wars to break out in which you can simply watch or participate, pretty cool stuff. YouTube - PROTOTYPE GAME TRAILER 2 |
