Call of Duty 5

Confirmed for the WWII setting....again. No idea why they fell the need to go back when they already took an awesome leap forward with modern warfare.

Now if they take the whole unlocks like in CoD4 and put them in a WWII setting making it essentially CoD 2.5 I say 2.5 because three doesn't count.

I am on the fence about this already, if it was still modern or even semi future combat I would be giddy with anticipation. I just don't think we need another WWII setting from this company even if they are awesome at making them.

There was some scans up from a UK mag but can't find them anymore.

Also of note Treyarch which made 3 is making this one...so may skip it all together while Infinity Ward is working on another modern warfare.

FUCK WWII. The reason CoD4 did so well was because they finally took it out of that setting. I loved 4 (bought for both pc and 360) and I will not buy this.

From what I understand IW is working on 6 already while Treyarch shits out the abomination Call of Duty: World at War. Just because it's set in the Pacific Theater doesn't mean it sucks any less than all the other used up WW2 games.

I mean if Treyarch wanted they should just take the CoD4 engine and make up a story centered around Asian in the modern day with some new perks/weapons it would be a hit. I'm sure we will grow tired of desert settings and terrorists just like we got sick of Europe and Nazis so a change of pace would be nice.

I swear I also heard about this having some kinda alien or sci-fi twist but for the life of me I can't find the article, maybe it was all some horrid dream!

it's going to have 4 player co-op so that's a huge plus. It's also rumored to have the same unlocking/perk system that CoD4 had which could be nifty... dunno about weapons/attachments though.

*shrug* I hated 3 but 1 and 2 were solid. I know it's the same guys who made 3 but it's using the CoD4 engine so it might be harder to fuck up this time (just say NO to QTE plz).

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and wait and see.

CoD 2 is by far my favorite, I thought 4 was neat, but had no soul.

I'd love to see another WW2 game. We need a good shooter that doesn't have modern abilities in it. I prefer just my Thompson and a rusty .45

A well executed Pacific Campaign game could be a lot of fun, and they have more Dev time with this than they had for CoD5.

And I didn't find CoD3 that bad, it was the worst of the series, but still more solid than 99% of all FPS games.

COD3 was an abortion of a game. 1 and 2 were so unbelievably badass that when I bought 3 I was all excited only to find it a steaming pile of shit. Why take a game with such a fantastic rep and hand it over to another developer who already proved they will fuck it up? Whoever made the decision to let anyone but IW make it should be shot.
