| Diablo spawned a whole sub-genre of its own, I gotta put that one down. I've been playing one version or another of Sid Meier's Civilization since the MS-DOS days and that series is still going full throttle....Gotta toss that one in too. |

| Games I think will still be remembered: Chrono Trigger Xenosaga Xenogears Final Fantasy 8 World of Warcraft Counter-Strike Team Fortress Final Fantasy 7 Baldur's Gate Halo (also sad to say) Sim City Mariokart Warcraft III Lots of repeats, I know, but that's what I think. Its been years since I played many of those, and people still talk about them.

| I would say that while there are games coming out nowadays that might warrant a 10/10, nothing made past 2000 will be legendary(at least on the level that we think). The method of the gaming industry nowadays is to clone whichever game does well, which makes the original game that did well fade into obscurity. Take for example, Gears of War. Probably the best 360 release title and the most intuitive FPS mechanics that have ever been created. Within a year, 5 more games come out with nearly the exact same mechanics and are also hailed as great games. GoW is now pretty much a lost title. The only exceptions are games that are record breaking. WoW and Halo being the only 2 that I can think of. But while these games are the most famous of the generation, I'd like to doubt that most people on these boards would consider them more than good games that got a hell of a lot of attention. Fine-tuned to be sure, but neither were anything new. The only games that will be legendary are the ones already legendary. |

| When I think of games that people will remember 30 years down the road I think of the game which can define the emergence of a genre. Before Final Fantasy 7... most Americans didn't give a shit about RPG's they were few and far between and for the most part niche. Most decent ones didn't even reach US soil unless they were not released by square. Years from now I honestly doubt most of the population will remember Chrono Trigger or Xenogears. As much as you loved them both were small players compared to Final Fantasy 7. Heck, among most gamers Xenogears is niche.

| Only few games will really be remembered by anybody but the most experienced gamer. I remember Total Recall on NES, but that doesn't really mean anything to the average person. So I'll just pick the landmark titles. My list is pretty much the Same as Grimbles, minus Mario Kart and adding in Civilization and Tetris. |
