PS3 Remote Play awesomeness

Play all PS1 games on your PSP ... through Remote Play - PS3 Fanboy

Reports coming in of being able to pop any PS1 disc in your PS3 and remote play it with your PSP. Gonna have to test this out when I get home tonight!

I read in a game informer (i think) a couple months back that Sony plans on unveiling complete remote playability of all PS3 movies/games/content on PSP. They will have to re-map buttons or have shift functions b/c of the limited buttons on PSP, but they are planning on doing this in 2008.

The example was something like: Go on vacation, turn on your PSP, hit the link PSP / PS3 button and choose which game you want to play. It then turns on your PS3 (which is at your house in timbuktu) and selected game and streams the game to your PSP over the intrawebs.

Good stuff.

Wouldn't streaming a PS3 game... kind of suck? I guess it depends on connection speed, but that seems like a lot of transferring.

I don't know what this is, but maybe... this is living?

PS: I don't realy care about this feature but it's still pretty cool in a futuristic way. (EDIT: that's not that much data since it's key presses going in a direction and a video feed at the PSP resolution in the other)

That's my initial thought too, but I'm withholding judgment until I see how it works.

For this feature to truly be useful they need to make a way for you to make your own disc images in their ebootwhatever format with the PS3 and the original discs.

Otherwise if I'm in Barbatos playing FF8 for whatever reason how am I supposed to change discs?

Granted i'm sure theres tons of exploitability there but as a legit consumer I don't really care.

Call your buddy back home and have him swing by the house to pop in disc 2.

-or-

Hire a babysitter, but we'll call her PS3 sitter, she answers your call and is ready to switch discs on a moments notice.

I will never have children, so hiring a woman to watch my PS3 and change discs at my whim, well appealing on some disturbing level, is out of the question.

Both are viable but in reality the feature needs to take this issue into account, though I know your just being facetious anyways.

Nice feature for Sony to allow everyone to do it now. Everybody with hacked PSP have been doing this for awhile pretty much.

I don't know if you could do this previous to this, but you can also use your PSP to turn on your PS3 and start folding@home with it. Just did it for the hell of it.

They just need to expand this feature to PS2 games, and it'll be worth it over custom firmware.

Another thing I'd like to see is the ability to spectate game matches on a PSP with full camera rotation etc etc.

The PSP can't handle PS2 Emulation. The PS3 has a hard time getting full speed emulation for PS2 games itself.
