| Guild Wars: Eye of the North I didn't see any posts about this so I figured I'd make one. It's a step down from Nightfall. No missions (quests act like missions with cut scenes), very short main quest, and no new classes. It was still fun, and if you enjoyed Factions, Nightfall and the original story it is still enjoyable. It is also very very easy, while running with a group makes certain things much easier there is only a single quest that need other players to beat. |

| I only have prophecies (vanilla GW) and factions. I logged on my 20 monk/mezmer for the first time in at least 6 months and I started looking for a group on some easier missions to remember how to play. Group members were like "What? no heroes?" And they were asking me to 'ping' them. I had no idea WTF was going on so I just logged off, heh. Looks like I'll need to do some catch up/buy the expansions if I ever plan on playing this game seriously again.

| I just got in Nightfall last night, but didn't have any time to mess with it. I'm told that heroes (introduced in Nightfall) are different from mercenaries in the respect that they have access to the same unlocked skills you do and you're able to select which skills to give them. They are also easier to control apparently. Some complain that they ruined PUG groups since it's possible to complete the game solo with them. Personally, I'm fine with that...I like to play with 2 or maybe 3 friends and fill the rest of the party with NPCs. Graphically, the game is pretty amazing. I was looking on the Guild Wiki site with all the elite armor textures....very cool. They recently announced 5 million box sales, but I'm puzzled why I don't see many talking about the game here. |

| there's an odd sort of "it's not really an mmo!!" attitude about guildwars that keeps it from being discussed. That and no ability to jump seem to keep the avg forum person from really liking it it seems. Personally I'm more impressed with guildwars than most other recent mmo's. I think the 'mission' style content format should be copied by other mmo's. It would rock to play a faster paced mobile story mission in WoW or eq2. I stopped about mid way through nightfall and never picked up eye of the north. I'm sure i will one day, but I'm not in a huge rush. |

| I really love the pick up and play aspect of it. Sure beats the "must attend 95% of our raids" style that the genre usually offers. If there was a game that combined the quick action of GW with a more persistent world I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'd pay a sub for it. Here's hoping GW2 lives up to its promises.

| My main character is a 20 paragon/warrior, i also have a 20 elementalist, and a twinked out level 10 or so monk. I own all expansions but never finished the factions storyline(just wasn't as awesome as nightfall or EoTN). I haven't played in about 2 months because of school and being in a certain beta, and of course DOTA (fucking game needs to end, ive been playing it since 2004 with no signs of stopping). As for heroes, basically you pick up heroes in both Nightfall and EotN only. They are part of the storyline and you don't get to select their primary profession, only their secondary. Their armor can't be swapped out (only upgraded in appearance) but it can be buffed with runes and stuff. You can however give them any weapon at any level (great for twinking and makes running through early game of any expansion a breeze). You also can give them any skills you know, and can actually bring up a minibar that lets you use their abilities whenever you want. Downside is that each person can only ever have 3 heroes in a party at one time, making henchmen far from useless. Heroes add a fun strategic aspect to the game, but are only as good as the people controlling them. I had a lot of fun mixing and matching a party of heroes and henchies to take down missions and bosses. As for pinging, they mean linking your skill set. I think it is control+leftclick your skill bar. It is required for grouping now, that way any E/Mo can get the boot when half their skills are aoe fire and the other are expensive heals. Anyway, if anyone wants to play together let me know. My Ele needs to finish all of Nightfall, and both my Para and Ele need Factions. Also my low level monk needs everything =) Oh, and the environments and artwork in EotN are first class. |
