Upcoming Games of 2008

Being that my 2007 list was completely cleared out I decided to start the buying plan anew. Anything past February is pretty much completely tentative, but here's what I'm interested in for the next year:

X360:

Metal Gear Solid 4 - 06/24/08
Final Fantasy XIII - Ships 12/01/08

These dates are from Gamestop's current listings. The Resident Evil 5 is more than likely way way off and actually a fall game, but I listed their entry of it regardless. Sadly Fable 2, Mario Kart Wii, FF:CC, and Wii Fit are not in their systems yet - though they're likely 2008 releases. The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery also might make a very late 2008 release so I put them up there as well. I highly doubt the FF13 games will make 2008 in the US too, but I also put them up there anyways.

I don't have a PS3 yet, but I'll be picking one up either when MGS4 is released or when Final Fantasy XIII is. I'm leaning more towards FF13 for it though, as I'd rather not have just one game to play on it and I don't intend to buy anything cross-platform for the PS3 unless the X360 versions have some drastic problems that outweigh Live's advantage.

Addition - Game I'm most excited about for 2008? Devil May Cry 4. I just watched the full length 168mb TGS trailer on Live finally and holy shit that game is beautiful. I'm a huge DMC fan, far more so than any other action series, and I'd totally want to have Dante's babies if I were a chick.

You're missing the likely GOTY 2008, Gears of War 2.

(Ed Note: GoW2 2008 is speculation)

I'd be willing to bet that fallout won't be out in 08. It's only been about half a year since it was announced, right?

Any game needs at least 3 pushbacks to be quality >.>

It doesn't appear you are an FPS fan, but Haze and Killzone 2 are two big ones hitting in 08 for the PS3. Also, Little Big Planet in Spring. Afrika supposed to hit sometime that year, as well.

Halo Wars for 360. Dead Space and Boarderlands, as well, since you buy cross-platform games on the Box.

Well, at the end of the official trailer is says Fall 2008, but who knows?

Resistance 2 for the PS3 is confirmed for a fall release I believe.
There's also a high chance for Banjo Koozie 3 for the 360 in the fall but that's speculation like Gears of War 2.
Turok, which I have no clue on quality, is a multiplatform release in Feb.
Splinter Cell: Conviction for 360 in early 08.
Burnout Paradise in Jan. Demo comes out this month!
GT5 and MGS Online also likely in 08.
Spore
Also I'm holding out hope for Starcraft 2 but we all know how that'll go.

Basically the games I have bit of interest in that weren't already mentioned.

Isn't L.A. Noir 2008 release? About the only game I've seen so far that makes me want a PS3.

MGS4 videos look choppy as hell to anyone else? That spot they have for it in their new PS3 commercial looks like it is running at about 10fps, which is odd considering it's a pre-render.

The cutscenes are real time, but yeah, they're all running at around 15-30 fps. However thankfully the gameplay is silky smooth.

Anyway here is my list for 2008, presently only own a PS3. Will buy a 360 again sometime late in 2008.

I just wanted to chime in and say I`ve watched all of the Lost Odyssey trailers here in Japan and I damn near got a boner.

Theres a PSP game that just came out here, not sure if it`s getting a US release but I think it will since it`s a SCE title. It`s called`For a Hero you`re pretty impudent`

Its being billed as a 2D Dungeon Keeper.

I'd be REALLY surprised if Assassin's Creed 2 doesnt make it in time for the holidays next year. Characters, animation and engine are all carried over from the first one and with it designed as a trilogy I cant see them letting much time pass before they bring in number 2.

This is my prediction!

It's funny that 2008's GOTY is coming out so early on in the year.

By the way, there's an extended version of the TGS live trailer on Gametrailers.com taken from the Gamer's Day Event (about 1 minute 30-ish). Can be found here.
