| New PS3 question So, with the Kmart 20% coupon i bought a PS3, i have registered with Playstation underground and i wanted to know if there some tool i can use to browse or interact with other players online at that moment. So far all i acn do i download demos/play videos/ blue ray. Am i missing any tool, or is the out of box online support that crappy?? And by crappy i mean i only have an inbox and outbox message center. no way to go and meet new people. I dont have any games yet for it, only demos. |

+21 Internets | Online games are handled through the respective game's software itself I believe. As far as interacting with other players, you have to add them to your friends list first. There isn't somewhere you can just meet other players(yet...when Home hits it will have this type of chatroom functionality). |

| Home is suppose to be the online chat experience to meet new people. You can ultimately meet new people through games like Warhawk as well. Unfortunately, Home isn't out yet and Sony decided to focus their efforts on pumping home out, instead of splitting resources to create a centrallized chat server. You can chat and can make chatrooms. Its just that you'll need to meet people first in order to do so; at least until home arrives. Edit: Hate soygen for beating me

| fuck, showed up at kmart with my 20% coupon and they wouldnt let me use it on PS3. back of coupon did exclude electronics, among everthing else in the store other than kmart brand clothes it would seem, but I have read here and other places that people were getting PS3s with them. Guess I just got unlucky with my cashier. just checked slickdeals and fatwallet and it looks like there was an earlier coupon that didnt exclude all electronics and even that one was hit or miss. doesnt seem so surprising or unfair that mine didnt work now =) Last edited by Lucificate : 11-26-2007 at 05:15 PM. |

| Not the next coming of Cristo but eye chatting is pretty frickin sweet. Can have up to 6 people chatting on your TV screen. BTW Once you start playing online the PS3 tracks whom you've come across in game and you can add friends that way or just add specific names. After purchasing Eye of Judgment I had to drop R&C. I made a promise to beat it before buying new games as I don't want to start that habit/cycle of again. As a bonus my girl LOVES EoJ as it reminds her of Culdcept. |

+21 Internets | Yeah, I really like Eye of Judgment and looking forward to Culdcept on 360(I have the PS2 version). Does the PS3 have the ability to have custom soundtracks for any game like 360? The same 3 songs over and over again in EoJ really starts to grate on my nerves. |

| Yeah SDK 1.80 lets developers add custom soundtrack functionality but it appears developers are slow to adopt it. It takes like 12 mb of system memory so that may be the issue. However iirc one of the newer sdks shaved 12mb off of system memory so it should be a wash. Rumour is that MGS4 will use the feature. Yeah 3 tunes per stage can get old, but I like it now because it gives each stage/arena it's own personality. I've been working on a water monk deck but I keep getting these uber cards for the other elements like fire/earth/biolith. I need to find that woods chick that grants invis for my water deck. My girl has one but she won't give her up! /shakes fist! In other news Quote:

| So for those that play madden '08 online like I do, is it possible to chat real time with these people? I frequently destroy these people and would like to deal some trash talk to them as I do it but haven't figured out how. |

| EA has really gone downhill in many's opinion. What gets me is the seemingly unwillingness of devs to take the time to learn the PS3's architecture and get good quality games out. Several other dev houses have done it successfully, so I know it's possible. Hopefully, Sony's recent willingness to work one on one with developers and cutting their dev kit costs in half will help that. |

+1 Internets | In Q3, EA made more money selling mobile phone games than PS3 games. If it's not financially viable to make high budget PS3 games, no-ones going to bother. Last edited by Cor : 11-28-2007 at 04:11 PM. |

My PS3 is starting to look like a good investment. It makes a GREAT media center and the good games are finally starting to come out. Honestly, I don't buy too many blu-ray movies, but it's nice to have the option if blu-ray ever takes off.

Not to get all zen and shit. But I would suggest developers learn to turn disadvantage into advantage. There is a large captive audience of ps3 owners that would eat up well done original and forward thinking content under the $10 range. Or mid budget titles in the <$25 range. OR create a market by releasing quality shit instead of cashing in on past due success or the work of other greater and brighter developers. Ala the original xbox360 experience. There were droves of mediocre quality titles and much fewer developers developing for it at first until the popularity of the platform seemingly exploded with dead-rising gow etc. Now everybody and their mama wants to develope for it. Nintendo DS software releases is going downhill for the same reason. Developers jumped on the easy cash cow band wagon and started releasing droves of me-too games, training games and other craptacular software. And it looks like again the best titles are going to come from in house nintendo devs. Instead of waiting for the blade or looking for the blade, developers need to be the blade.

| I think taking the time to focus on putting out quality PS3 games will mean more profit for developers on the system. If you take the easy way out and toss out a barely-playable game just to meet a deadline, of course it's going to reflect badly. People bitch about GTA4 and Haze and MGS4 getting delayed, but if they pushed those games out just to get a game out this holiday, people would bitch that it was crappy and unfinished. It's a Catch-22. |

Agreed and one of the reasons I love Everyday Shooter. Now I'm not sure how much cash Sony is making off this little $10 gem but it's worth every penny of that IMO. I wasnt expecting much out of it from seeing screenshots and reading descriptions but the actual play experience (helped of course by that wonderful sound track) is very good. Why can't there be more games like that?
