Pretty much this. I've run into a lot of good Dans over some of my matches and played well he catches a lot of people off guard. Doing a simple mix up into his tatsu is pretty damaging and when you jump taunt and fly over everything super high people have no idea whats going on.

If you lose you can chalk it up to it being dan, but when you win people have no idea what to say.

How do you do Dan's air-knee anyway? It's not in the move list, and every Dan I've ever had trouble with has just abused the INSANE priority that move has.

Its just the whirlwind kick thing only using the light kick button instead of the hard.

Just tried messing around with Dan for 2 hours, would have been nice to try it on a variety of people but this game consists of so many Ryus, Kens and Sagats its ridiculious. People need to fucking branch out, makes me want to main Gen again and just cheap the shit out of the god damn nubs over and over again until they send me more hate mail. I need to buy a mic and laugh at them for being like 90% of the Street Fighter player base.

Also, pretty sure its been asked a few times already. But does anyone have any links to some good sticks for street fighter? Was talk here about Madcatz but from my understanding they've been sold out for awhile. +interwebs for linkage and info

So ive been playing with Dictator a lot lately and shit... it feels so much better than playing with ken/ryu/saget... Last night was my first night playing champ mode.. just moved up one bracket but it was fun. watching some videos on youtube, looks like you need to abuse the shit out of m.k and light scissor kick. Super fun style to play. Name is Skidoggac on Xbox if any one is interested in a match or 2. Could use some work..

Skid, look at posts 363 - 390 or so of this thread. Lots of info about sticks in there.

i put my stick on my desk and my chair i sit at my desk on is a lazy boy. So, my arms are kind of elevated. It was bad positioning, but i didnt really feel it until i posted that. My arm felt like it was on fire.

Anyways, i get my arcade parts tomorrow finally according to ups tracking. Going to go out and buy a dremmel tool. Need one anyways and the wood tomorrow night.

I just cant decide what kind of wood though. I went and seen some today, but am holding out until tomorrow to buy it. Walnut is so nice looking and so smooth, but its a bit expensive.

In my experience, you want something heavy. An arcade stick should not be shifting around while you play.

Wow, neat! Those ones on the left are new. The ones on the right are the ones with the grey plungers I talked about.

Good to know. I wish they did screw-ins though. =/

Aye, I put them up for comparison. I, too, wish they had the screw-in versions. I really wanted some black and yellow for a Guile-themed stick I'm building.

I understand all the shoto hate. It's been going on since people couldn't beat Ryu in 1P mode in the original. I used to be a Guile/Chun/Ken player, and in later games like MvC et al, I always had Ken on my team. I didn't use him for cheese. I just liked him. I main Sagat now, because when I first learned of SFIV, I was determined to become good with him. I never was before. He was too terribly slow. Anyway, I play to be good, not to cheese or to follow the crowd. I hope people won't hate (me) when I finally get the PC version and my stick.

And just so you know, there is no such thing as black Sanwa buttons. The casings are black, but the plungers are grey.

Also, if you're going with snap in buttons (the OBSFs) be sure you know how to properly mount them. You can't just drill a hole in 3/4" MDF and stick them in. You might not like the results anyway. While you're at it, read up on properly mounting a Sanwa stick. It's not intended to be mounted flush with the control panel.

Edit: Also, consider just doing a 6-button stick. All of my sticks have been 6 buttons. I've never missed the other two. It's nice to have a smaller profile stick, plus is better not to have to rely on a macro to hit Px3/Kx3. If you just have to have them, by all means. I find they get more in the way than anything.
I was going to do a 6 button lay out and put the other 2 on the side of the case, or just have them as spares.

I changed my order to this:

Quote:
3x Sanwa OBSF-24, white: 6,00Euro
1x JLF-TP-8YT (Sanwa):
- Color: vermilion 21,95Euro
1x JLF Restrictor GT-Y: 4,95Euro
1x Sanwa Bat Top LB-30N, black: 3,50Euro
2x Sanwa OBSF-30, white: 4,40Euro
6x Sanwa OBSF-30, black: 15,00Euro
And thanks for the info.

This PSN GP bug is getting pretty annoying. Logged on today and was greeted with the "Something fubared last time you played, so we stole your points" message. Bound to happen if you listen to what others have said and plenty of people on my psn list has experienced it as well. Well, long story short, lost 700GP because of it I didn't end up with visible disconnect percentage though, perhaps not enough disconnects on my part to show 1% yet. Got back up to 8000+ again np, but if that wouldn't have happened I would've tried to get to G2-A for shits and giggles.

Also had two of the weirdest tournaments happen today. First one was, ELF ELF Cammy Cammy, followed by Cammy Cammy ELF Blanka haha. Hardly ever see either Cammy or ELF when I play and to see this many of them in such short notice was rather perplexing. The last ELF was also sitting pretty at 12.5k GP.

I know what you mean. On one hand I like having it because, like you, I hardly ever use my super. Chun's ex's are too useful. If I'm playing and haven't had an opening for an ex and happen to notice my super is full, sometimes I'll try to work it in, but usually I don't use it. Sometimes it's nice to have the ultra as a trump card.

On the other hand, I feel lame having the ultra as a trump card sometimes. All the time I find myself backing off and waiting for a fireball. I don't like it, I need to break the habit, but I'll be damned if I don't still do it. A lot of people are wising up to it though.

And I can't count how many times I've eaten a wakeup ultra just trying to keep the pressure on somebody. Ultras are a mixed bag, and like you, I'm on the fence about them.

FYI Knockers, the other night I got thoroughly disgusted with Championship, and set my fight request to regular ranked and played arcade mode. The matches rolled in, never had to wait, so I'm not sure why you couldn't find any matches .

They were mostly good people too, was a breath of fresh air.

Edit: Oh and I'm not ashamed to admit, I've lost to at least a couple Dan's that really knew what they were doing.

Dan isn't a bad character, in-fact he's great, dunno why anyone would be ashamed of losing to him, it's not like other games where he was just a joke character.

The problem with the ultra system is that the usefulness of each character's ultra is so different.

Chun's is great in early-mid level play. (By the way, her super is one of the only moves that hits safe jump-ins, so keep that in mind. It's not useless!)

Abel's is incredibly strong and comboable, but not as easily as Ryu's or Sagat's.

Dictator's is really strong but difficult to hit with. Balrog's is comboable (annoyingly so), but not incredibly strong when combo'd into.

Don't even get me started on Gief's. Fucking bullshit damage, and bullshit that you can't escape after he's inputted. There is nothing gayer than being smart and safe and working your ass off taking down a Gief (who has way too much fucking life and way too many opportunities to take yours down fast), who gets a lucky ultra because he was spamming circle motions and PPP while you're comboing him and completely destroys your lifebar.

THAT is why Ultras are gay, because some are really difficult to hit with and/or do minor damage, and others are incredibly easy to pull off and/or do WAY too fucking much.
