| I remember playing this not long after it first came out and found the dialogue awesome (I played one of those cursed-crazy vampire types) and the atmosphere pretty cool. It was the stupid amount of bugs and shitty combat that ruined it for me. Using guns was pointless IIRC since your accuracy was always terrible even if you were shooting perfectly. The AI was dumb and I remember alot of just abusing shitty AI and hitting things with bats. Oh well. |

+3 Internets | Make sure you download the unofficial patch before playing the game. It fixes a lot of bug, balance issues and whatnot. As for the game itself, it's fairly good, but nothing like "OMG UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME". What you like is the World of Darkness setting.

+13 Internets | I really really liked Bloodlines, like, a ton. It's a shame they got shafted on the source engine and had to rush it out the door like they did. If they had had a better version of source to build with and time to actually make a real ending instead of the bogus we-have-no-money-left ending they tacked on it could have easily been the best RPG out there. But man, one of the best experiences to be had in gaming is playing through Bloodlines as a Malkavian with minimum humanity. The dialogue is so batshit insane like that, it's awesome. And yeah, if you got screwed by bugs two years ago when you tried to play it, just get the player patch, it fixes damn near everything and adds in a lot of cut dialogue and quest rewards and such to boot.

| for anyone that saw this thread and went "Man I hated the bugs, never got to finish the game" vtmbup42.rar - FileFront.com unofficial 4.2 patch. Have to start over I think, which is probably no issue for most here. |

+11 Internets | Dammit, gonna have to load this back up again if I can find my disks. But yeah, Malkavian was a no brainer for me since that is what I played when we did it P&P style. I wanted an option to have sex with both of the sisters at the same time though... |

| It must depend on what version you played. I played it pretty late, with many patches already released. Might also depend on what "class" you chose. Some make the fights more or less fun. I thought it was almost on par with Deus Ex and System Shock 2. Very good game. |

| The game had a huge amount of dialog you could branch off into. One of the better things about it. There are a lot of different ways to do things, unlike so many other computer RPGs. I've played every major computer RPG since the 80's, more or less. I still say the patched version of this would be at least in my top 15. |

| Very enjoyable game for me with a lot of variety in the stories and missions. I did have a few problems with bugs, but I got a later release as well, so it wasn't as buggy. From the comments here though I'll have to go back through and play as Malkavian, though. After playing, it crushed me that Troika's doors closed. |

| If you can't tell by me spouting quotes after not having played this game in like a year, it is one of my favorite games. Was it buggy and clearly rushed? Sure. But the dialogue in this game is some of the best I've seen in any RPG, and there's just so much fun shit you get to do. Fight an army of zombies so the graveyard keeper can get laid? Check. Put up secret cameras in someone's house to collect blackmail material? Check. Slash up paintings to piss off a Toreador? Check. The Ocean House and Malkavian mansion sections were both fantastic, also. Saying this is a mediocre game based on the combat not being that great is sortof like the people who don't like Bioshock because the combat isn't hard enough. There are some games that you play through for the story, and Bloodlines, like Bioshock, is one of these. |

+58 Internets | Oh yeah and the early mission when you have to go to that mansion where that dude murdered his family or whatever had me seriously on edge the whole time. Never pays off with actually scaring me in parts like that, but always anticipating the scare ia nearly worse |
