+19 Internets | for that part, you actually only need 6 of each if you hack the invention machine :P But anyway, the freeze tonic isn't that great. If you have room for the freeze plasmid on your wheel thingy, it can be handy for hacking safes and whatnot (it slows the flow of liquid if you freeze it first). For me, I pretty much used Decoy exclusively then just relied on "l33t FPS skillz" to kill shit that wouldn't attack me. It's such an underrated skill since it works on *everything* and it costs next to nothing. And for what it's worth, you were probably better off skipping bolt 2 and going right to bolt 3 when it becomes available (ditto that with inferno, sonic boom, etc). It's like only a level or 2 more of a wait and it saves a tad bit of ADAM.... not a huge deal either way though. I did that my first playthrough too. I don't recall what tonics were awesome except for the one that gives health/eve when you hack stuff, and the one that gives eve when you use First Aid. There's a huge amount of awesome combat tonics though.

+66 Internets | I used all the wrench tonics, and for the most part used my wrench on splicers. For the hell of it, I even used the wrench to kill a big daddy, but that took way too many first aid kits. For the most part though, I barely even used plasmids in the game. Mainly I just stuck with the wrench and machine gun. I only played on medium difficulty, though, and looking back I probably should have played on hard so I'd be forced into actually using plasmids and strategy instead of just straight shooter styles. |

+66 Internets | Totally agreed. I haven't played it on hard difficulty, so maybe that gripe is somewhat unfair. But at medium, I found that there really wasn't any great need or advantage to figuring out really unique and different ways of taking down big daddies or splicers. For the most part with big daddies, some adequate cover, electroshock and enough grenades or armor piercing ammo was more than enough to take them out extremely easily. That said I still think it's a fantastic game. The presentation, story, and production values were fantastic. But the gameplay itself was somewhat more shallow than what I'd expected. And I didn't even follow the hype of the game. |

+19 Internets | I've beaten it on hard and at best, plasmids just make taking down targets easier than straight up weapon fighting. You can still do fine with just run and gunning it though... but security bullseye and decoy sure make those first few big daddy/rosie encounters much easier.

| Most big daddies roamed by a security camera, I just through that security target plasmid and let the fucking flying robots kill them, run around, come back when the big daddy spawned again, and do it again, 1000$ + each lvl on hard, never went anywhere without 9/9 eve and health packs and full ammo heh. |

| Just finished it =) got the "good ending" too. Aw man what an awesome game it is. Rapture and its inhabitants are probably the best virtual set ever made. The cohesion between the story, the setting, the characters... truly an A+ game. What am I gonna say? I was bioshocked. The thing I liked the most? tracking a big daddy by the sound/vibrations. Gosh, the wail... you enter an area, hear it in the distance... edit: oh yeah, obligatory tactic recap - I just enjoyed electric/fire plasmids the most, it's a nice combo since they stay shocked while the fire burns them. Around big daddies, I found the enraging plasmid rather hilarious. Last edited by Lorrac; 01-09-2008 at 12:27 PM.. |

+1 Internets | So I'm following from a bit behind. I just beat the game...Why did Andrew Ryan get himself killed? He could have easily killed Jack (Would you kindly get stepped on by a Bigdaddy? or whatever). Another point is that there is a rumor that there are 3 endings: First one if you harvest all the LS's. 2nd one is if you rescue them all. Third one is if you harvest some and rescue some? (Didn't see the third one) |
