I'd wager there are quite a few people like me that want to know if their PCs can handle it before shelling out money for either version. I won't purchase it until I can test it out myself since PC usability varies from computer to computer.

Apparently the offcial forums say that the Direct2Drive version will be unlocked in the morning as opposed to the steam version of 1pm PST on the 21st

Just finished the game. Took about 13 hours or so. Amazing all the way through and game of the year for me. Make sure you don't read spoilers or completed achievement list before completing the game.

Errr....how would not releasing the demo before actual final release, be dropping the ball? If you want the game, you'll buy it. If a demo actually holds you back, you'll wait or pirate it. I'm not really sure how the releasing and/or holding back of a demo would make any difference in what a customer does.

13 hours?! I ... well ... um. Is that with exploring, sight-seeing and fun? How would you rate the replay value?

Every review I've read said that 12-15 hours would be normal if you rush through the game only doing the main plot. Question is - why would you want to do that? I'm looking forward to soaking up as much Rapture as I can get.

Are there any minibosses or creatures that aren't splicers/big daddies? I'm hoping the entire game isn't like FEAR where you fight the exact same enemy 1000 times besides the bosses.

No, I agree. I mean, I probably spent a good hour on the demo at least, on my first play through. I guess I'd play through at 1/2 the speed that Chamsie did. Well, I'd hope so at least.

That was the vibe I got from the videos I watched like 6 months back. It seemed like you were only going to encounter little girls (all with the same voice and model), Big Daddies (the big scary aqua-suit guys?) and a handful of other bad guys. I haven't played it yet (no Xbox) but still, I don't know how it could be getting such high scores if it still uses the formula of reusing model after model for what should be different, unique people...assuming those little girls are all different people, which I thought they were.

Damn, GOTY is going to be crazy this year. Bioshock, Mass effect, Mario Galaxy, Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, and a bunch of other amazing games that I can't recall at the moment are being released all in the next few months.

I mean, holy fucking shit, you know?

Anyway, I want to try the PC demo out. If it doesn't work well, I'll have to get a 360.

13 hours is not my experience at all. It took me about 21. I did listen to every audio diary and explore things that weren't necessary to explore + I saved every little sister.

There are minibosses but you only kill splicers / big daddies / turrets / security bots during gameplay. I never thought it got old since there are 5 or 6 different types of slicers which is the amount of enemy variety I expect of an FPS. It's more than in GoW.

The reuse of models is not that blatant because splicers move fast and you're often in darkened places so you never actually get to look at the models that much + there are a bunch of masks and other shit so you never feel that you're being attacked by clones. There are different models of little sisters though.

Game of the year, my favourite video game ever, the most amazing plot & setting I've ever encountered in a video game and a truly deep and involving experience. Yes, I did download it because I have no patience, yes, I will buy it when it comes out over here because I want more experiences like this one. Ken Levine is my god and BioShock completely killed my hype for Halo :\

I consider myself pretty good at games and didnt feel I was rushing at all. I played the demo 5 times looking around and exploring and this is a game I've been waiting for since it was announced. I'm at 40 out of 50 achievements my first time through. Were there some more things I could of done before beating the game? Yep, but that would of added 2 hours of tops and had no impact on the story or my game experience. Decided I would just do those things my second time through on hard mode. I'm guessing most of you will experience the same amount of play time as me.

As for the replay value, I do want to play the game again. I'm going to harvest every little sister this time instead of saving them. I can be more efficient in my upgrades instead of buying rank 1 of everything to try them out. Knowing the story line, I can now listen to the audio clues and look at the enviroment in a different light.

There are minibosses that come pretty regularly, but enemy varity is not this games strong suit.

Just finished the game as well, took me about 20 hours or so and that was listening to all the Diarys, exploring all the rooms and different paths etc. Absolutely loved the game, Game of the Year... so far. Not the best game of all time, but definatly in the top 5.
