| The Big E3 Thread Just a friendly reminder that this year's revamped E3 is starting tomorrow. With the unbelievably large amount of announcements made and conferences held, perhaps it's best we don't make a thread on each and every thing to happen? Big stuff obviously can get more personal playtime. If anything, use the thread for discussion of MS/Sony/Nintendo conferences. That's really all I care about at E3. I'll keep the OP updated with links to conference streams or direct downloads after the fact, as well as big game news. Note: G4 TV will be hosting at least the Big 3's conferences live, as will Gamespot. IRC Chat @ irc.uberguilds.org channel #OtherGames Or CGI interface: CGI:IRC Login --- MS's Conference: 1up IGN (requires Insider) Gamespot G4TV XBox.com --- Nintendo's Conference (8:30/9:00 PM PST): 1up IGN ($$$) Gamespot G4TV GameTrailers --- Sony's Conference (11:30 AM PST): 1up IGN (requires Insider) Gamespot G4TV GameTrailers --- All times in PST: E3 SCHEDULE Tuesday, July 10 7.30pm – 9pm: Microsoft press conference 9.30pm – midnight: Killzone presentation at Sushi Roku (40 SCEE media – invitees only) Wednesday, July 11 *I don't actually know if these times are perfect, so just make sure you are on your toes early* 8:30 am – 10:15 am: Nintendo Press Conference at Santa Monica Civic Center 11:30 am – 1:15 pm: SCEA Press Conference at Sony Pictures, Culver City **** 1 pm – 6 pm: SCEA Game Lounge - Le Merigot Ballroom 1 pm – 7 pm: Barker Hangar Expo Thursday, July 12 10 am – 6 pm: SCEA Game Lounge - Le Merigot ballroom 1 pm – 7 pm: Barker Hangar Expo 6 pm - 8 pm: SCEE reception for European journalists at James’ Beach, Venice Beach Friday, July 13 10 am – 6 pm: SCEA Game Lounge - Le Merigot ballroom 11 am – 6 pm: Barker Hangar Expo Last edited by RiskyChris; 07-11-2007 at 02:03 AM.. |

| Ah yes, that's a great idea. When we did the GoW tournament a few weeks ago, we just hijacked channel #gow on whatever server FOH is residing. It'd be nice to be in a non-retard IRC for the conferences this year -- last year I hopped onto a Nintendo one, and it was mindless fanboy drivel all around. |

+107 Internets | Nope. I'm on IE unfortunately. Next time the sys admin is around, I'm going to try and get FF at least. I'm not sure on how down he would be with me asking for mIRC or the like. You don't need installation rights to install FF extensions, right? |

http://irc.uberguilds.org is a web-based client, but I haven't figured out if it's possible to get that thing to connect to different channels. /join doesn't work. I'll keep an eye out to see if I can't hook you up by Wednesday's conferences (probably when you'd be at work, yeah?). All the Java ones I've looked at seem to be pay-to-play. | |

| I created and registered #OtherGames on the uberguilds irc server just now. I'm not sure what exactly it takes to get it to show up in the webclient list - probably just has to wait for it to refresh. |

| E3 was downsized because it had become a chaotic circus the past few years, and the big companies were pissed at the amount of money they had to basically throw away to present themselves at the show. Things should be calmer this year, as the amount of invitees has been drastically reduced. Think that about covers it. We'll see how things turn out in a few days. |

+1 Internets | E3 2007 is completely closed to anyone but press and the folks working the booths. No public day, no booth babes, just keynotes and demos. It's also spread out over like 13 or more hotels and other sites, rather than a big convention center. The supposed aim for all of this is to make the experience more "intimate", meaning the press will have more time to ask questions and demo games rather than 5 minutes stays split between devs and demos. All that being said, I find it hard to believe this set up will allow more in depth coverage when the E3 staff has purposely scheduled events to be held at the same time in 2 or more locations, locking you in to only seeing one. But we'll see how that goes Wednesday I suppose. edit : RiskyChris is a fucking ninja |

+49 Internets | They're actually working on an event called "E for everyone" or something, which will basically be a public E3 much like the Tokyo Games Show is open to everyone.
