| Mount & Blade Anyone been playing this game? I found it the other day on Home of the Underdogs. Mount&Blade Basically, it's a half-finished RPG made by a Turkish couple, on their own dime as far as I can tell, that is basically a medieval combat simulator in its current state of finish. There's no real storyline yet, but what really makes this game stand out, to me anyway, is the mounted combat. Both mounted archery and mounted combat (with lances!) are pretty freakin' awesome and better done than I've seen in games with far larger budgets. The shareware version lets you get to level 6, then you gotta spend $22 if you want to keep playing. I'm not sure if it's worth sinking 22 bucks into until it at least has some semblance of a storyline, but hunting people down with a lance is $$$. |

| My dad was into it a couple years ago and really liked it. I didn't get into it as deep as he did but the combat was pretty fun. I've recommended it to several people who enjoyed it. Can't go wrong trying a free game. |

+1 Internets | Wow, that was a ton of fun. It's unpolished in places (archery sux~) and the story/direction is almost non-existent, but the character customization, combat, and overall world/ambiance is very well done. I remember playing a game similar to it, but far less open-ended (had Joan of Arc in it), and it reminded me of that with a Sid Meier's Pirates! feel. If someone could come out with a more finished/polished version of this game I'd happily plunk down $50 for it. |

| Yeah, that's my problem, it's a lot of fun but I'd feel a little weird even paying the current shareware fee for something that really isn't a game, at least not yet. It's one of the very few games I've ever contemplated pirating but at the same time I don't want to undercut people doing good stuff like this. I just hate having to keep restarting once I hit level 6! |

| For $10 it is a decent purchase, especially when considering the quality of the game from a team of 2. I like to support this kind of creativity and bought it pretty quickly. Games of late suck dick, I hate that, and this one doesn't (although it is certainly nothing spectacular), so I like to support it. I played it for about 2 hours before I was content with my purchase, and another 3 before I was done with it. |

| Registered User | The game is fun, showed my friend it a LONG time ago and he still plays it off and on, the only problem is how slowwww the updates are on the game ( I realize that it's only two people semi-working on it, but still ). On the forums I think there's a community dedicated to modding the game, but I haven't really checked it out much. As for Archery.. it used to be hardcore imbalanced when you got decent at it, so they nerfed it some sadly. Who knows how things will change though. I really hope they keep working on the game. |

So I went ahead and bought it. I've had more fun with the Beta demo than I have with most recent games I doled $50 out for, so what's $22? Last edited by Cadrid : 07-07-2007 at 10:51 PM. | |

+5 Internets | For those who played that game a lot: does it work? What I mean is that the main point of the game is that it has a starting situation and then all the bandit groups are run through AI and are all doing stuff all the time. When well tuned, this type of approach is supposed to generate emergent behaviours or at least surprise the player by the complexity of some of the action-reaction chains. So... Does it work?

| Bump for great justice! There is a new version of this out, which has added some more factions to the game to give a little more depth. It's still a very unfinished game, but for $22 it is a shitload of fun, especially running through a crowd of footmen and skewering like six of them on your lance. |

+1 Internets | So is there a way to get the mouse to lock focus on the game? Even in fullscreen the mouse runs right off the edges onto my other monitor and the only issues I could find on the forums were people bitching about windowed mode not locking the mouse either. Pretty much a dealbreaker if the mouse doesn't even stay in the game properly. |
