360 ruining games...

Looking for some advice.

My 360 has ruined a couple games now by putting a nasty circle scuff on the back of the CD. I can no longer play them because the CD is unreadable. I am not moving the 360 while it is on or anything like that it just happens.

Just a few minutes ago I was playing some pgr3 and went outside for a smoke. Came back inside and started playing and I got a "CD is unreadable msg". I pull the disk out and the back has been raped... same thing happened to GH2 a few days ago.

Does this have anything to do with the way the 360 sits? I have been running mine with it standing up, should I lay it on its side while playing? Does it even matter?

If its still new, take it back. I had this happen on my old xbox before. I took it back and got another one. If you cant take it back, just say its broken and try to get another system somehow. I guess you can always open it up yourself to see whats causing it.

You should be laying it down - it can fuck shit up pretty bad if it's standing up.

I had the exact same problem, the vertical mode just doesn't work.

I was playing The Darkness last night, and it started crashing. The game, not the console, mind you. I look at the back and it has what looks like 3 claw marks. My console is sitting down correctly, and I think it's starting to fuck my games anyway.
