| It's too dangerous of a move. Pokémon is one of the consistently best selling franchises ever, and I'm sure Nintendo is afraid to confuse the playerbase enough to upset that balance. This is also why there have been little changes to the GB series this past decade. |

| As the saying goes, "Why fix something that isn't broken?" If I was nintendo, I wouldn't do -anything- to change their carefully balanced and retardedly lucky cash cow. And it looks like they don't intend to either hah.

+5 Internets | Because these are video games and not kitchen cabinets? I will never buy another pokemon game for fear of it being the same exact thing again. They may continue to rack up the 10 year old sales and that may make them a very good living. But keeping the story the exact same is losing them money. I can't be the only one that is sick of "pick 1 of 3 pokeymans, your neighbor takes the one that is strong against yours. Go get 8 badges, kill team rocket, and then fight 4 people to become pokeyman mastah!" |

because not for nothing, but Nintendo doesn't (usually) take that kind of stance. Just take a look at where Mario, Zelda, Metroid, or fuck... the GC -> wii :| anyway, dead horse etc etc. | |

+9 Internets | Seems like Wii is really the first console where they could have a pokemon game and maintain the rather integral social aspect of it. I mean you could technically battle other trainers on the Cube with two memory cards but the technical overhaul this would require probably didn't seem worth the effort, especially for a relatively unpopular console. I suspect with the success of the Wii and it's (rather limited) online capability the likelihood of a non-portable console pokemon's odds have increased. |

+2 Internets | I'd even be happy if they increased the frequency they released the handheld RPGs. No way it needs to take 3-4 years to release a "new" Pokemon rpg. They don't even need to add new pokemon or features, just a new over world and perhaps try to actually come up with a plot that isn't half assed. G/S seemed like they were slowly changing the direction of the series but the most recent ones follow the same mold as R/B/Y which is unfortunate. |
