Why am I not playing TF2 yet? Or a rant on the epic failure of episodic content. It's complete bullshit that we're looking at an 18 month cycle after Episode 1 before we get the next pack of content gingerly placed on our plates. People bitching about episodic content certainly isn't new, but I'm particularly annoyed because I want me some Team Fortress 2. The only other multiplayer FPS that I found to be as fun as TF(C) was UT the original. Valve needs to get on their shit. Episodes shouldn't require that I play through the original games in order to remember where we are in the story -- that's a sign that your dev cycle is TOO FUCKING LONG. ./explode

That reminds me, I need to go play HL2 and HL2:EP1 again. Its a bit disappointing, but they said EP2 will be 50% longer than EP1, plus it comes with portal which is like 4-6 hours and TFT2. Can't beat that.

Pretty sure the release of TF2 is actually one of the signs of the apocalypse. I can only imagine what would happen if it and Duke Nukem Forever came out on the same day. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria, etc...

I can actually remember my first moment of TF2. I was reading a magazine I think, probably PC Gamer, and they were talking about all the teamwork aspects of the game. Where you could have someone firing a machine gun and another person helping to load it. The other big innovation they were spouting was the leadership aspects where you could have one designated person giving out orders and having ultimate control. I remember thinking at the time how damn cool that sounded, without really considering all the problems and shit that could come of it. I think the quote at the end of the article was something like: "Stay tuned next year, this should be the christmas game everyone will want in 199X" Hard to imagine that it's actually being released, had given it up for dead a long time ago. | |

Where does Fortress Forever fit into this? Fortress Forever - A Team Fortress Mod for Half-Life 2 I haven't played Valve games in some time, but I was an avid TFC player all the way from Quake. Is TF2 going to be better or worse than Fortress Forever? I haven't really kept up with anything.

They sell almost everything individually on Steam, but I suspect you'll only end up saving $5 or so over buying the full Ep. 2 package. Dunno much about Fortress Forever. Hopefully it's at least better graphically; I hate the official TF2 stylized/cartoony look.
