+10 Internets | The Essentials : X-Box (Original + 360) Lumping these 2 together since honestly the "must have" library for the original is probably countable on 1 hand. Same rules as PS2 thread, pasted below. Keep in mind these should be the ESSENTIAL games. If you have to preface your suggestion with "You'll either love it or hate it," "I don't know about anyone else, but I really liked..." or anything similar, don't suggest it. These games should also stand the test of time. If you can't load the game up today and enjoy it just as much as you did when it first came out, it does not belong on the list. Also remember that the list will be HUGE... so don't suggest 20+ fucking games please. If you and 9 other gamers were to be marooned on a desert island (which conveniently had electricity, 10 TV's, and 10 consoles,) what 10 games would you pick? Please post in this format : Game name : Genre Do NOT use acronyms. Not everyone knows what the hell MGS, FF, or DJOX:SEAG means. If the game is part of a series and 1) it's very important to have played previous game(s) and 2) said previous game(s) is very good please note that as well. For example, if Knights of the Old Republic 2 deserved to be on the list by it's own merits (it doesn't,) then you could safely recommend KOTOR1 as it has a lot of important lore backstory as well as being damn good. Last note... I will have a party games section. This is for games that might be bland solo but are fantastic once you have 2 or more players (Super Smash Brothers, Wii Sports, etc.) Don't be afraid to post games that are already listed. If it gets mentioned a lot, that will only help to secure it's place on the list. Dead Rising : Action Gears of War : First Person Shooter |

| Flaccid Steel | Xbox: Ninja Gaiden: Black Xbox 360: Rainbow Six: Las Vegas - It depends how you want to play it. I find m/k is far more superior than a controller but I also like to play it on my 46" HDTV and reclining couches. Condemned - I just got this game. It's a creepy first person shooter with investigation/ evidence gathering stuff. Kind of like Phoenix Wright meets Resident Evil. edit - apparently its a short game so rent at your own leisure Last edited by The Dauntless One; 06-21-2007 at 10:29 PM.. |

+19 Internets | Are we suppose to include games on multiple systems? I'm just going to assume so... Without going into repeats: Xbox 360: Geometry Wars: wiki calls it a "multi-directional shooter" so uhh, yeah.. Castlevania: Syphony of the Night- action/adventure Alien Homonid HD: side scroller Lego Star Wars (1 & 2... think they're releasing a new combo one too): action/adventure Xbox: Knights of the Old Republic (1 & 2)- RPG Halo (1 & 2)- FPS Off the top of my head anyway... |

+1 Internets | Xbox 360: Gears of War - First/Third Person Shooter Rainbow Six: Vegas - First Person Shooter, I like the cover system in this game more than Gears. Lego Star Wars Original Trilogy - Action/Adventure Xbox 360 Arcade: Castlevania Symphony of the Night - Action/Adventure Geometry Wars - *see Blanks description Xbox: Halo 1 and 2 - First Person Shooter; These games brought crediability back to console FPS that it hasn't seen since Goldeneye for the N64. ***And I'm going to have to veto Dead Rising. Save system plus other minor annoyances really hurt this game and take away from the overall fun. I own the thing, and I'd rather someone rent it first and see if they can deal with its quirks before they bought it. |

+10 Internets | Yes. The only exception would be if a certain version is poor. For example, Resident Evil 4 would be a must have, but supposedly the PC version was lackluster, so wouldn't be listed. Quote:
I would disagree with both Marvel : UA and Knights of the Old Republic 2. Ultimate Alliance is fun for sure, but wouldn't classify it as a must. If enough think it should be on there, I'll place it under party games as single player I think most can agree it isn't anywhere near as good. KOTOR2 was pretty bleh. I think most were disappointed at how rushed it felt. | |

| Dead Rising is a rental. A fantasticly fun rental, but still. My only contribution is gonna be "Jade Empire" for the X-Box. Fantastic fighting system, good plot, and the evil storyline become almost sickeningly evil later on. |

+8 Internets | I agree that Marvel Super Heroes shouldn't be classified as a must have. A must rent? Sure. I also believe with it's rushed nature that KOTOR 2 was still a very fun and solid game. Xbox: - Halo 1 & 2 - KOTOR 1 & 2 (some might disagree with 2) - Jade Empire (some might disagree with this) Xbox 360: - Gears of War - Blue Dragon (it's been out in Japan for a while with great reviews. We all know that the US version is gonna be an automatic must have.) - Call of Duty 2 (I don't think this game gets the credit it deserves. It's a blast to play and anyone who hasn't played it is missing out. There might be some disent with this one though.) |
