| Need some recommendations. Hello, I'm looking for recommendations for sleeper hits or anything of that nature. I"m looking for PC RPGs only, as if its a RPG on PS1/PS2/SNES, I've more than likely played it. The entire Baulder's Gate series. All of Icewind Dale. Dark Messiah Oblivion Two Worlds (still a horrible game) Gothic 2 and Gothic 3 Silverfall (can't get into this) NWN and a ton of the single player mods NWN2 Planescape Torment Arx Fallout Fallout 2 Deus Ex + 2 KOTOR + 2 Jade Empire Overlord Dreamfall DF: The longest journey X2 X3: Somethingratheranother: Jupiter Incident I haven't played ToEE, because I'm not sure how character driven, plot driven the game is. I'm specifically looking for plot/character driven games. For example, Dark Messiah wasn't the best game in the world, but the story presentation was fantastic. I'm not looking for a Diablo clone or diablo itself. It doesn't have to be a RPG - as long as the story is something that draws you into the world, I'm fine with it. Edit: The game itself doesn't have to be a RPG, now that I think about it

| I can't say I ever played Wizardry 8. I'll have to look into it.

| Man I played the shit out of Bane of the Cosmic Forge and Crusaders of the Dark Savant (Wizardry 6 and 7) but I just couldn't get into Wizardry 8. If a lot of people think it's really that good I might have to revisit it. |

| ToEE is a really good game with the Co8 mods/patches. And since I'm on the topic of Troika, have you played Arcanum and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? Arcanum requires a bit of patience to get into before it starts getting good, but VtM:B is one of the best games of the last decade. Last edited by Vorph : 06-30-2007 at 09:02 AM. |

+16 Internets | My PC alter-ego devotes a cult to Betrayal at Krondor, so it's probably good.

+8 Internets | Don't see Fallout Tactics on your list. It's as good as the other 2 imho. I thought Wizardry 8 was good, but not a huge amount of plot development. The combat style was unique though so you may enjoy it. If you don't mind low end graphics try getting that boxed set with all of the Ultimas. Actually Ultima 7+8 probably have graphics on par with Diablo 1, so they aren't that bad. Ultima Ascension was fully 3D. You mentioned Oblivion but not Morrowind on your list. I enjoyed it more than Oblivion. Don't see any Might and Magic RPGs on your list either. Personally I didn't like them, but a lot of people do. Heroes of Might and Magic I do like, but those are strategy, not RPG. |

+18 Internets | If you can find it, Anachronox is pretty good. It's a console style RPG for the PC. It was like the only good game to come from John "Im gonna make u my bitch" Romero's company before they shuttered the doors.

| Froofy mentioned HoMM, i second that.. the newest one 5? Isn't really all that bad either. Quest for Glory series was pretty bad ass, the old ones you might have to run through DOS though or something.. I'd also mention Arcanium (its very similar to fallout, except in a fantasy world.. and fallout is better - but I think its worth trying out!). I really liked the original 'Revenant' game too, BUT that is somewhat Diablo-esque, i liked the story but YMMV. |
