[PSP] Final Fantasy: Dissidia - please don't suck!

So Square announced a new Final Fantasy for the PSP the other day called Dissidia. The bad news? It's a 3d fighting game that resembles Power Stone more than Tekken or Virtua Fighter. The good news? In the released video, it shows Kain, Cecil, Zidane, Kuja, (further review points at Garland/Warrior of Light instead of Kain/Cecil) and hints towards Sephiroth as either a boss or possibly a playable character.

Right now it seems a little too heavy on the cut-scenes during the actual battles but you never know. Here's hoping they pick up some more decent characters and get some decent American voice actors. Any way, here's a video...

Square tends to fail at things that aren't specifically RPGs, so I expect a whole lot of terrible here.

They really won't let that Sephiroth standing in flames image die. Anyway the game itself looks like it'd be pretty awesome if it is multiplayer (which i assume it must be)

Not sure if this will be good or not, but damn if the PSP doesn't look nice. I really have to get one and mod the crap out of it. I think that might be my next "gaming" purchase.

Actually Einhander was pretty decent, wish Square would make another shooter.

This could easily be awful though.

I hated Vagrant Story. I think it was because of playing EQ during Luclin but when I finally got to play Vagrant Story, the idea of farming bane weapons in a console for the entire game wasn't entirely appealing to me.

Technically speaking, Xenogears and FFT fall within the "last 10 years" (with FFT's having been released in Japan exactly 10 years ago to this day).

Needs more Irvine from 8 imo.

Too bad it's not just all squaresoft characters, a fighting game with Magus/Chrono/Shadow/Citan/Fei would be the shit-fantastic. Hell, throw in good old T.G. Cid for good measure.

Square listed em as Kain and Cecil, so that's what I put. I have a hard time being able to recognize 16 bit boxes of pixels when they get jumped up to PSP-level graphics so I dunno.

They may have fucked up and put Light Warrior/Garland in there and accidentally spilled the beans on Kain/Cecil, but I was just quoting Square.
