Halo 2 PC

Just played about an hour in and I'm not too impressed for the rave reviews this game got when it first came out on the Xbox. Half-Life 2 and Battlefield 2 came out about the same time and I think they are immensely better games. Who knows maybe my opinion will change later in the game but it just feels like an Halo 1 expansion right now.

Well considering it was made for Xbox and HL2/BF2 were made for PC I'm not sure what more you were expecting.

Halo 3 is coming out soon and it is a lot more fun then both Halo 1 and 2 so just wait for that instead.

Well alot of people(not here but elsewhere) were claiming it to be the best FPS ever made.

Halo is a great console game, but to put it anywhere near the league of the PC FPS greats is a total mockery.

Edit: And the lukewarm reception of H2 PC shows it.

I replayed it a few weeks back, since I'd never gotten around to EP1 and figured I may as well re-aquaint myself. Fuck anyone who disagrees, HL2 is a goddamn amazingly fun game from start to finish. Although the last bit with the stupid powerful gravity gun is a little out of whack. EP1 was pretty decent, for the 10 bucks I paid. Shit, that's like one and a half beers at a bar these days, and not even a six pack from the store. That said, I fail to see the point of episodic content if they're two goddamn years apart. I thought SinEp1 was also decent for the price, but I'll be damned if I'm not still waiting for more content.

Halo2 was fun for what it was and the time it came out, a fairly mindless console shooter. But it just doesn't hold a candle to HL2. And I can't understand how people can even play that shit multiplayer, a few friends were over who are both much bigger console gamers than me, and we played 3 player split screen on my 106" PJ HT, and I couldn't even make anything out, it was just a blurry fucking mess, aiming sucked, and so on. They kicked my ass naturally, but I just don't see the attraction personally. I always felt the same about Golden Eye back in the day.

To those playing HL2, try this mod for the Single-Player, as it seriously kicks ass:

SMOD - Bullet time, Gordon kick (a la Duke Nukem) and LOADS of awesome guns. This shit is seriously the shit. Oh yeah, did I mention the improved AI which makes the game drastically harder? Awesome.

Not to continue the derail, but does HL2 have a single player map community like HL1? I remember some websites for the original halflife that had LISTS of single player maps, some of which were really long and detailed.

I remember looking for them a while back and not being able to find much of anything, I guess I should try google first.

eh the game is forever old, but I'd like to point something out.
HL2 I could care less what happened to gordon or that chick. H2 I was immensely involved with the storyline and wanted to see MasterChief through it. This is what made me like h2 more than hl2. Also the game is different on the PC, I just can't pinpoint what is wrong. It just doesn't have the "feel" that it did on the Xbox.

I thought the gameplay mechanics, physics, etc. were excellent, minus the sound stuttering bug that comes with every Source game, but plot-wise, that ending is the single worst of any game I've played. The beginning of Ep1 (which was all I ever got to see because of constant crashes at "Loading..." points) didn't do much to change my opinion of it either.

PS- SiN Episodes is cancelled, there's not going to be an Ep2 or anything else.
