The last Metal Gear I played was for NES... I was thinking of picking up MGS2 : Sons of Liberty and MGS3 after that. Good enough, or should I try to find (download) MGS1? And what is the deal with Metal Gear vs Metal Gear Solid? No spoilers though if you can help it, though not a big deal.

Also, trailer looked awesome.

I won't spoil anything but MGS1's plot is worked into 2 so I wouldn't skip it if you care about that stuff.

have to play mgs1. not only is it necessary to understand 2, but it's probably the best game made for ps1 (and the best mgs).

Too much hate on MGS2 -- it's one of the best games on PS2. Likewise, MGS1 is perhaps the greatest game of the '64 generation, barring OOT.

If you have a GameCube or a Wii definitely pick up MGS: Twin Snakes. It's a remake of MGS1 using MGS2 gameplay/engine, ect. It's way, way more fun than the original MGS1.

And yeah, you should play all 3.

Shortly after 3 came out a friend dusted off his GC and got a copy of twin snakes and beat it in one sitting was an awesome recap without having to dig out my ps1 copy.

If i didn't hate the GC controller I would have played through TS myself.

I'll jump on the bandwagon to say that you should play all three games released so far, they are all great.

Definately agree on Twin Snakes, it's probably the best remake ever made along with Resident Evil 1 for Gamecube.

About MGS3, I too totally hated it at first and shelved it for maybe a month. Then I picked it up again and loved it from start to finish and replayed it. Hell, I sometimes have friends over to whom I just show the hundred cinematics of the game and it feels like one long epic action movie heh.

No luck finding Twin Snakes. The closest supposedly that I can find it is about a 30 mile drive and totally wasn't in the mood (Ga Humidity + No AC = Suck.) I did find MGS 2 for $7 though, so just going to start with that and look for Twin Snakes in the meantime.

I'm sure you're right, however I think I should tell you they aren't exactly "mechs". They are genetically-engineered creatures with tech-implants. The legs are actual live tissue and they have a functionnal organism and brain, they are just equipped with a massive turret on the head.
