Wow at the PS3 - it's actually falling behind GBA and within gamecube reach.

Disappointing 360 sales -- I wonder if Elite had a negative impact on public perception? It's normal for sales to trend downwards from Jaunary->April, but I figured a new console model would stabilize 360 sales. MS needs a price drop if they want any hope of claiming USA from Wii.

PS3 is floundering -- below Gamecube levels at this point I believe (will check data later). What a fucking disaster. Sony really thought they could sell 5 million consoles without software (though I agree with them had they priced a $300 console).

Wii is showing a stronger presence due to increased supply -- I expect 400k/month to be normal until the holidays.

Eh, the X360 still has 3 times as many overall sales in the US. There's just low numbers right now due to there being a lull.

Like I said before - come fall, the X360 sales will skyrocket due to the insane amount of releases. I imagine many people (like myself) are holding off on buying one for a couple more months.

They've saturated their target market (that being, people willing to pay $400 for a console). They've gone what, 18 months or so without a pricedrop? The sales will not pick up appreciably without a price drop. It's possible MS is being cocky assuming Halo 3 will carry them this Fall, leaving them to not touch the price and rake in the cash.

Eh, yeah you could be right. I never really even blinked at the thought of paying the price of the Elite, but it probably could use a drop to move more sales.

It's going to be a brutal 4th quarter. Halo 3 turned out to be actually a fantastic game -- they haven't dropped the ball one bit.

More interesting is the one 'new' cross platform game, Spiderman 3 sold the most units on the XBOX 360 than PS2.

It was only out for a day or two of the NPD tracking. 360 owners on the whole are purely hardcore, so I don't imagine it'd be too wild to expect PS2 to pass it for May NPD as the casuals take notice.

interesting times and yes world wide the ps3 is tracking almost exactly like the GC for sales- weekly sales are a few thousand higher than the gc, the gc had a better "release" though (sold 5x the ps3 release week). overall Sales of the ps3 though are lower than the gc.

proves what alot of people said last year when the price came out- TOO EXPENSIVE.

if the ps3 was the same price as the 360 it'd be selling alot better.

if the ps3 was 350, it'd be selling better than the 360

if it was 250, you'd be buying off of ebay cuz demand would be as high or higher than the wii.

I simply do not agree that the price is the main factor in the PS3's abysmal sales.

Far and away the primary factor is its lack of software. It just has absolutely *nothing* going for it right now. It makes no sense to buy one yet.

Even if the PS3 was 300 dollars it wouldn't be selling much better. Who the hell buys a system that has nothing on it? It's like the GameCube all over again indeed.
