+29 Internets | It's true, I don't know a single person who didn't decide to buy a Wii, or at least really want one, after seeing Sports. It doesn't compare to things like Halo or FF, I know plenty of people who had no interest in those games at all, but not a single person who didn't like Sports. |

| Unless you live in Europe + america/japan past the first batch There's nothing remotely attractive enough right now - both resistance and motorstorm are comparable to similar offerings by the competition What was hd market penetration again, 7%? |

+5 Internets | It's obvious that the strengths of the Wii are mostly in games that focus on control and innovation, and not cinematic-style monsters like MGS.. excepting Zelda and other Nintendo franchises, I think it's unlikely that any game company will be making games in that fashion for the Wii. I think if Nights is done well, and Mario is good, these are the kind of games that will really succeed. I would love a Katamari-level game. My Wii is admittedly collecting dust right now, but to be fair the only games I play are Dota and WoW, and I cannot afford SPM which is what I really want. Like you said, Sean, I'm glad I bought it. The purchase was undoubtedly justified by how in love I still am with Zelda, and the continual usage I get out of Wii Sports and Wario Ware. I had some Japanese people come over and cook dinner for about 20 people, and by the end of the night no one wanted to go home because everyone was so into our Wario Ware games. Instantly makes me a great host... to me that is what justifies a console purchase, moreso than the enjoyment I get out of playing through a game by myself, alone in the dark, like I did when I damn near removed myself from society to play Parasite Eve and FFT. |

It seems more and more that we'll be seeing an SNES/Genesis type rivalry between Wii/360 here in the states.

| Nintendo will not receive the same support the PS2 got. They'll get a lot of Wii-friendly titled published for them - but they're not going to get the third-party exclusive dominance that Sony was privy to. The same amount of companies supporting Nintendo? Likely - but they'll be mostly Wii-friendly games. While those same companies will also be making X360-friendly games and going huzzah huzzah we have lots of money. (They'll also do some dual X360/PS3 games and hope to god they get a return investment on the PS3 side). That's very, very different from how the PS2 was supported. |

+5 Internets | Honestly Chris. Dude I love Nintendo too but I'm not making blind claims about how they're going to get the next killer apps like MGS. Just isn't going to happen dude, so you gotta get used to it. Nintendo is going to be the market leader because they brought a whole shit load of people in who wouldn't be buying a system this generation if it weren't for the Wii. If they had just made another next gen system to compete with the others without the control gimmick and low price, they'd get schooled. Zelda, Metroid and Mario wouldn't be enough to compete with Halo, MGS and Final Fantasy, and GTA, and etc. etc. etc. Once again, I love Nintendo. I love my Wii. But to think that the next Dead Rising, Gears of War, MGS, or something is going to be a Wii exclusive? Rubbish. |

Will games that have similar production values and even themes see creation and subsequent success on Wii? Unquestionably, yes.

+29 Internets | Well MGS isn't really a "killer app" is it? Isn't it on the rather low end of best selling games of all time? I realize it's a good game and all, but is Little Timmy really wanting a particular console just for that game? Didn't I read on these very forums that the Mario games are far and away the best selling games of all time, followed by Pokemon? The devs will go where the money is, that's for real. But The question at this point is, is the Wii going to be where the money is? It isn't quite market leader yet. It isn't like the 360 or PS3 will be abandoned, but only a retarded company would see the Wii as a market leader and not develop quality titles specifically for it. |

| Because most of those 80 million people are people who have no interest in playing games like MGS or DMC or FF. They are video gaming newbies who are probably barely aware that their Wii can play games besides Wii Sports. |

| Ok will they get the same third party exclusives PS2 got? Probably not. Not as many at least but Nintendo will have more exclusives PERIOD simply because of the nature of seperation the console provides. Cross platform games between the Wii and the X360 do not do well. Developers this generation are going to tailor their games specifically to the Wii, Specifically to the DS, and Specifically to the x360. All 3 of those systems will get a large amount of third and first party exclusive titles that may exceed PS2's own exclusives. This is simply because making 1 game-fits-all syndrome of the past two years is just not going to work anymore. (See Spiderman 3 for example.)
